Anyone have experience with the Amherst Ford location?
I didn’t actually sell my BMW to them, but I mentioned in this thread an Autonation offer for my car (garaged in Columbus, Ohio). It came from AN Ford/Amherst.
They were fast and clear with communication and the offer was solid, I just decided not to sell the car.
I assumed Amherst was the closest Autonation dealer, but now that I’m looking Canton appears to be marginally closer.
The Amherst dealer may be where they centralized some or all of the buying in the region (just a guess).
I don’t have experience with the Amherst location, but the North Canton Ford location is fantastic for lease buyouts.
I sold my BMW lease there a few weeks ago and my friend sold his Mercedes lease there last weekend. Both times we were in and out in less than 30 minutes with our equity checks in hand.
Curious if you went in in person to get an evaluation.
I didn’t state that exactly as I intended.
I submitted a request online, and it was Amherst Ford that responded. My half-baked theory was that the online requests may be regionally centralized for processing, but that wasn’t based on anything other than speculation.
Your quote gets sent to the closest location to the zip you enter. Try entering the zip for another location. I did this when didn’t like the closest location.
I think the location they direct you to is just based on closest to your zip.
Neither of us went in for an evaluation prior to dropping them off (2 hour drive). I discussed their offer with the buyer at the store and was comfortable with his responses. They even had the paperwork printed with payoffs pulled before we walked in. The longest part of the process was waiting for corporate to approve/activate our equity checks.
The North Canton dealer is physically closer to my ZIP code than Amherst.
My quote came from Amherst.
The mapping technologies we use for various purposes where I work all use the latitude/longitude of each address/endpoint to calculate distance.
That was the basis for my observation. (Note: I don’t work in automotive retail.)
If you go by driving directions, the shortest route to the North Canton store is further by ~15 miles than the shortest route to the Amherst store.
That’s great. My offer is from them and I’ve read some bad stories in this thread about some AN dealerships - wanted to see what I was getting myself into since it’s an hour and a half drive from me
Just saying. The second AN location was around 10 miles further than the first.
Sold mine to Autonation Ford in Canton. Very easy process and pleasant to deal with. They gave me $54,500 on a $58k 2021. It’s been about 6 weeks and still sitting in there lot. They can’t sell it.
Sold QX60 and Wrangler 4xe to AutoNation recently.
They matched online offer for QX60 and processed the offer through one of their Nisan dealers in the network. Sold for 31.5k and 40+ days later it is still in their parking lot for $34k. I got a really good deal here.
Wrangler 4xe (MSRP ~55.5k), online quote 49.5k, negotiated with the sales person via text messages to 51.5k.
Checks issued the same day. Overall very good experience.
How many miles did you have on it? They offered me 53.5 with 6k miles on a 60k msrp

Has anyone sold a VW Lease to Autonation? Do you know if they use my payoff amount or the ‘Dealer Payoff’ amount when buying? I dont know what the dealer payoff is but I assume its much higher then my payoff quote would be.
My autonation buyer emailed me and asked what I was trying to accomplish i’m assuming he’s getting tired of the weekly quotes i’ve been putting in for the last month or so
Mine stopped emailing back quotes months ago
I emailed them back multiple times and they never responded. Oh well, sold it to GMTV.
I had to buy mine and then sell it. After taxes I still made 3-4k couple of years ago.
Sold my BMW lease to Autonation. Pretty painless process. Got an estimate online, went in to a local MB dealership, and walked out with a check an hour and a half later. Probably could have got more by buying it myself and selling it privately, but this was much easier.
Sold my BMW X1 to autonation. Honestly didn’t expect I would have any positive equity but got a real strong offer. Drove 3 hours to get it and they honored it without any games. Couple of pointers for people who are planning to do the same thing.

the payoff quote given to me had msd’s already applied. Made it much easier than waiting for bmw.

they don’t need to have a bmw dealership in the family to buy bmw leases. My Honda dealer only had a cdjr dealer close by but still were able to buy the car. They mentioned having an office in California that process all brands for them.
