Signed: Two Tacomas at $151 + tax ($0 drive off + 9MSD)

Too long to read? Head all the way down for the # breakdown.

This is my 3rd lease, but it’s my first time using leasehacker, so I wanted to share 5 tips that I learned here that helped me get a better deal.

#1 Carvana / Vroom
Who would have though that my current lease had any equity… I sure as hell didn’t! Within a few clicks I had a Quote from Carvana and Vroom. End up selling my lease to Vroom and getting a payoff of almost $2k. Whole process took a about a week.

#2 The actual deal
My last deal was a 2016 Challenger (very similar deal than what’s going on right now, I I got about $6k off MSRP and the residual was higher than now). The way I found that deal was by searching truecar.com for cars with the biggest incentives and then going to edmunds.com to find out what was their RV & MF. Using that method I would I have missed the Tacoma. This site helped me expand my horizons. The Tacoma deal was a front page text book example.

#3 Out of state purchase
From gathering the MF and RV from edmunds from previous leases, I was already aware that different regions had different promotions, but it didn’t occur to me that I could purchase the car in a different state and those promotions would still apply to me. I made my purchase in PA (my parents live in the area) instead of FL. Same car in Florida would have been $270/month (that’s the difference between 84% to 77% RV and no $750 cash back).

#4 MSD
Multiple Security Deposit… Never heard of it before looking at this site. Perfect way to invest the money that I got from Vroom. Using the maximum MSD is going to save me $960 on the 24 month lease.
The Sales Manager knew about MSD, but has never done a deal using it, so it took over a week of back and forth because his numbers were not matching the leasehacker calculator. Turns out he was making a mistake by adding a Bonus Cash Back intensive at the end and making the amount due at signing less than the MSD.

#5 Dealer’s Lease sheet
Requesting the dealer’s lease sheet and posting in this forum, helped me trouble shoot why the number’s were not matching. Once the dealer figured it out, we were within $2 difference.

Ohh, forgot to mention…
The dealer had two identical Tacomas SR, so I got one for my mom. For some reason she has always wanted a pickup truck… why??? I have no clue…

Deal was in PA, close to Philly. Send me a PM, if you want the name of the Dealer or Manager that I worked with. Unfortunately I took the only two double cab SRs, but they have other trims.

I just check, my first e-mail to them was on the 16th, so about two weeks.

Great deal! Did you guys make a road trip back to FL or have it shipped? You got two trucks for what a non lease hackr would pay for one. Haha.

Thanks, my first idea was to have my dad drive it down, since he was planning to visit me anyway. But I end up buying a plane ticket for $140 and we are both going to do the road trip.

I believe I reply to everyone that PM me… but I’m on my phone, if I missed someone, please PM again.
One last thing. I learned that Toyota calculates the MSD different than the leaserhack calculator.
They use the non-adjusted MF to come up with the amount. It makes no sense, but another member in this forum confirmed that for me.
This means the MSD will be higher than what is shown in the leaseback calc.

Congrats!! Great deal(s) and awesome write up. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome deal!

Was that a TFS lease?

Yes, that’s how I got 84% RV and MSD

Def. A taco Tuesday deal lol.
BTW, the dealer called me in the afternoon… It appears I brought him more leads in one day than his whole team the whole month.
I should stop by and get a honorary toyota baseball cap or something from them. Lmaooooo
