I’ll shoot for 10% discount pre EV discount and see how bad I get laughed at. I probably won’t get a response, but if the EV discount isn’t from their pocket, then it could be worth a try. Also going to try for $4k demo :).

How do you see if the car is a loaner on cargurus?

I usually just sort mileage high to low.

Seems to be a subsidy baked into the cost of some units that were customer builds from reservations long ago that were never purchased.

Yea my point is, it shouldn’t be treated as a discount because it’s also effectively reducing the RV, not reducing the difference between the RV and MSRP.

I was confused as OPs calculator seems to be considering it as a discount off MSRP.

Mmm but reducing the total MSRP of the car, even if the value is higher, reduces the overall amount of car that can depreciate, no? Almost better this way imo, no tax.

As long as you shrinking the delta between cost and value you’re doing well since your only paying the depreciation. Whether they are creating a credit towards the depreciation or making the total depreciation less is usually good for your payment. I think reduc8ng the purchase price helps with taxes

Typically your employer is a GM supplier and you can generate a code. Or a friend who gets supplier gives you their extra code. They get 2 from what I hear. No workaround as far as I know.

I orig thought using the higher msrp would be better - could run it both ways in the calc and see using OPs deal.

Lower msrp is best. Maximizes both the RV boost from the fed credit thus reducing the impact of the crazy money factor.

It’s a moot point, but credit as discount is better than lowered MSRP. See calculator below. Both with 6% off MSRP and 71% RV + $7500 RV boost.

Credit as discount: Effective $492/m

Lowered MSRP: Effective $745/mo

Yes, it is moot, because you don’t get to choose how the reservation credit is applied. It’s applied as a lower MSRP.

The comparison is between a unit with the credit and one without. The unit with the credit is going to have a lower lease cost because of a lower rent charge.

That wasn’t the intent of the post. I was commenting on people interchangeably using discount and credit in their calculators, or assuming it’s the same thing, or that credit is better than discount.

Obviously any credit is better than no credit, that goes without saying.

Tbh, the OPs calculators is not making a lot of sense. Not saying it’s fake, but how the deal was structured is not how the calculator says it is.

I tried to get a 105msrp down to around 90k. Had the 6k ev credit baked in so MSRP was less than 100k. I’m still working to see if they are willing to come to the table and negotiate. Seems like they don’t want to move on price when there is a ev credit baked in. Tried to see if they’d make it a loaner, but mikes are too low. I’ll try to contact a few more dealerships. I need to step away from this, but I can taste a deal and can’t resist. Another vehicle is the last thing I need, but these look like a hoot.

I’m right there with you. Feel like there’s a great deal to be had but don’t want to force it.

Ran into an amazing deal out of state, but they claim they don’t lease outside the state. Has anyone had any luck getting a dealer to agree to that? Maybe the buyer would be responsible to register it with DMV?

I had an experience out of state that was interesting. Leased a car in Mass and lived in NC. The car shipped here but didn’t have a tag and needed to be registered there first before it could be registered here. The dealership went to the DMV and handled it. From the time I signed the lease, got the car delivered, and then got a tag was almost 6 weeks. Car had to sit at the dealership in NC where I had it delivered until I got the Mass temp tag. My fault for not understanding the laws in the state where I was leasing. I dont think they dealt with situations like this. Leased it site unseen because it was crazy deal. 140msrp for 850/mo. That included the taxes. Those were the days. Owe it all to this forum though.

I have run into this in Tx. In my case it was a dealer policy. They agreed to make an exception but another dealer ended up beating their deal.
