First time leaser here. Wanted to post my story for others to see, as I found it quite challenging to get the “deals” that many of you post here.
I’ve never leased before and haven’t bought a new car besides a Tesla in a minute and I have to say the entire process is a bit stressful given that every dealer will give you a different story and price.
In any case, I wanted an EV9 and saw great deals being posted here. I live in SoCal and was being quoted around $650 or more for leases for an EV9 Light Short Range. Needed Short Range or Wind for the 2nd row bench seat and at $650 was already pushing my budget.
Long story short, came here looked for local deals and realized that local dealers will not match or come close to prices out of state (go figure in hindsight). So lesson learned here, dealer prices aren’t comparable state to state because demand for EVs in CA is high compared to somewhere like Kansas.
Long story short, started using searching online for out of state lease deals and found a few dealers willing to sell to out of staters. Some refused citing weird or obviously fake sounding policies (FL said we can sell you a car out of state, you just can’t lease one). In the end, can’t force a dealer to sell you a car.
Found this dealer in Kansas who was pricing EV9s to move and they were a breeze to work with. Quickly accepted their deal and had it picked up a day later after signing all of the paperwork! Couldn’t be happier with how much I saved on the lease overall. I have seen hardly any Light Short Range deals posted here and no one that low for a monthly payment on an EV9 with $0 due at signing (only owed first month payment). The rest of the details are posted in the deal link.
For those who may be asking, no the dealer no longer has these deals anymore. They wanted to move the inventory that they had.
Happy to help answer any other questions anyone has!
I wonder if they messed up the CA taxes/fees for this. Here is my shot at the calculator:
I think they will have a funding issue (if I didn’t mess up the calculator), I guessed at $500 registration and put your taxes at the lowest level in the state (7.25%, its probably closer to 9-10%) and still come up with $319/mo. That is using the ca doc fee of $85 which i’m sure they are much higher than that.
Either way, if it funds and they don’t try to force you to re-sign you have a great deal!
Sorry, I’m in SoCal. I stated SoCal dealers won’t match deals from out of state. Just merely sharing my story so others know what’s reasonable and what isn’t.
Ah, I can’t see it as I’m not a super supporter.
I think your DAS isn’t really $0 and shouldn’t be posted as such. You had to pay a payment, registration fees (how does that work without a title/MSO in california?) and I’d assume trucking. That is actually your DAS IMO.
Either way, if you get away with registration+trucking+1st payment for $279 including tax/fees that is a great deal
i’m surprised the lender would allow a dealer to lease a car and not require the dealer to register/title the vehicle.
It’s hard to make it apples to apples. If I lived in Kansas that’s my lease deal. I’ve seen people talk about taking flights to drive their car home and aren’t putting that in the DAS.
The car is registered, I’m confused by your thought process there. I am required to do the registration.
When you went to register the vehicle at the DMV, what did you have to use to show you were the registered owner? Did they just accept the contract to prove it?
No, you need power of attorney on the title from Hyundai. It’s common to request this and to have to do this with out of state leases, Hyundai knows what to send.
Many people have to register their leased car when they move states. You would have to do the same thing.
