Thanks for sharing- I think the 20% dealer discount is amazing. Unfortunately I was locked within 2 dealers nationwide that fit the specific spec for my wife since I know what she wanted- if I only chased the deal it could have been much better, you’re right. At the same time, I stuck with electric because of the residual on the monthly payment and it being electric was a fun gamble. A G63 will be next I’m sure but I’m excited about the tech in this one. I don’t bank with BoA either so that sucked- Chase Private Client had no such offering. In the end I can rent it out, sell it, or just trade out. The cap cost at $143,000 is manageable to get out of but yeah, I was just sharing my deal with car enthusiasts out of happiness and doing something nice for my wife- I didn’t need deal breakdown- the LH calculator already gave me my 7.0 rating. Everyone got way too crazy about the deal. I didn’t chase the deal, I chased the car bc color mattered. I appreciate your respectful post though.
It is all good, it is your money, we won’t tell you how to spend it… just wisely LOL. I just got a Hummer instead of the G580. I was slowly regretting my decision in beginning but I feel like hummer is a true boss. It is sort of like a wrangler on steroids lol
It’s a pretty awesome looking beast! Saw one this morning when I was driving to the gym. It’s also more cost efficient too- needless to say, I didn’t make my decision purely to hack. I did it with love for my wife and tried to minimize the sunk cost behind it.
Please don’t trade it out. you will get absolutely destroyed. My EQS AMG is 180K MSRP and it is worth 70K if that with 8K miles on it. G580 will be no better
Don’t blame your wife. I say the same thing and tell people “I got it for my wife” but it is just to boost my ego
Of course I’m bored. Why else would I be posting here.
Just a first in the broker searches from last month. Higher MSRP too. Not even close to @djrabbi awesomness though ![]()
Right now- emphasis on right now- MMR looks decent on it. It hasn’t taken a dump…yet! Maybe because it’s a G it won’t take a huge dive. Time will tell but she may want to just keep it- residual at maturity will tell us the answer. Worst case we turn it in and get the G63. Not gonna cry over spilled milk at that point when it accomplished the objective
Bro. I’m at $1,900 pre-tax with a total of $2,882 out of pocket. I mean yeah I could have just gone with any config and killed it but I needed the white on beige.
So you challenged yourself to beat the broker deals, but then got a worse deal because of specific config . Got it .
Why u hating - let the man rock - he’s not shipping the car cross country for a “deal” - he got a car he wanted at a price that was reasonable to him
Not everyone wants to a Temu chiseler
OP likes to keep his life simple and spend time chasing side chicks
I mean you’re looking for attention on a poor deal on a frugal car forum. So you’re probably doing something wrong.
Not going to hate—love the cars in your garage.
The trick to the G63 though is to finance and buy it, not to lease it.
Waiting for my mortgage to be paid off before I consider a Urus. Rates too good to pay down so have to wait another 10 years or so
.
In states where you can roll sales tax, I completely agree buying/selling is the best way to roll.
But in states like California with some terri-bad sales tax and no ability to roll vehicle sales tax, leasing is still better (when the lease doesn’t involve an EV). Rolling equity from the lease payoff to the new ride when the time is right is something a lot of the G63 crew does out here.
The problem is a G580 likely will be negative equity during the life of the lease, which makes it difficult to roll.
Looking for attention? It’s a car form where you post your deals to share with everyone else in the Car community. Not sure what you think is really happening here.
Bro, you are selling 1:1 car shopping help out there. People just pointing some issues with your giga G deal.
He’s happy with his lease and is offering a data point. Everyone should give it a rest.
But yes, if I was to get a G Wagen, it would be a G63 purchase and I’d be trading it in every 12 months for a new one.
Thanks OP for sharing the data ![]()
Congrats on this deal! Enjoy the car! ![]()
I understand chasing a specific config, that makes sense to me. I just did the same thing. Def could’ve saved if I didn’t. Congrats on the car, hope it is enjoyed.
With that, I personally see no value in the G580 and I think the value hasn’t taken a nosedive bc dealers are just holding on to a lot of inventory. At some point, they dive, imho. For $2k a month I’d be after so many other things, but that’s me and what you buy with your money is you. Enjoy the ride!
@Zein - Love the garage trophy setup.
Congrats!
Congrats on the new ride. I think the point a lot of us are trying to make is that any gas G wagon variant would’ve netted you a higher TCO on ownership. Not to mention a better experience- maybe the sub 250 mile range is good enough for you, but for most it’s not practical. That’s what happens when you make an EV in the shape of a brick. Escalade and Hummer EV’s have a much larger platform to allow for almost double the battery size- only way to get decent range in these types of EV’s.
Regardless, I can see your point to a degree. If TCO is the name of the game, why don’t we all buy F40’s and F1’s and sell them in a few years for a huge profit. There is the matter of just focusing on your monthly cost right here right now and the opportunity cost of tying up your money in a purchase. However, burning $75k on an EV G wag rental for 3 years just ain’t it for me personally. Will you have equity down the line to offset any of that? Very doubtful.
But no one can argue with you if this is just something you wanted regardless of TCO. You’re only pushback from us will happen if this is argued as a smart deal or hack.
