appreciate it, the $65 not a deal breaker in cost, but who likes to be taken advantage of?
Was it you or another contributor that stated Genesis is not offering any incentives for the 2026 models?
Is this likely a temporary situation or something to expect to stay? Does this imply that me getting any type of incentives, let alone $14.5k off on the 2025 seemingly makes it a good deal, if I was thinking of waiting for the 2026 models?
I just said it above. I donât know when/if incentives will come back. means you really have to push on the dealers on a 2026. there is some bonus cash on the 2025s right now but it depends on model/trim and I donât know all the specifics.
Original unicorn reference:
Just breaking this down for transparency and to help folks like @BAVIC understand how this deal stacks up vs. the so-called unicorns.
My Deal â 2025 GV70 EV Prestige
- MSRP: $76,705
- Term: 24 months / 12k miles
- Monthly: $788 (but only 23 payments)
- DAS: $730 minus a $747 refund = â$17 net
- Residual: $46,023 (60%)
- Discount: ~6.8% off MSRP
- Total Lease Cost: $18,107
- Effective Monthly: $754
âUnicornâ Advanced Deal â Adjusted to Match My Terms
Original unicorn:
- MSRP: $69,310
- Selling Price: ~$62,040 (10.5% off)
- Residual: 68%
- Monthly: $483
- DAS: $2,300
- Effective Monthly: ~$579
Now, letâs adjust it to 60% residual (same as mine), and keep the same discount and DAS:
- Residual drops by ~$5,545 â ~$231 more in monthly depreciation
- Adjusted monthly: $714
- Add DAS: $714 + ($2,300 / 24) = $810 effective monthly
Summary Table:
Deal Type | Trim | MSRP | Residual | Discount | Term | Monthly | DAS | Effective Monthly |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
My Deal | Prestige | $76,705 | 60% | ~6.8% | 23mo | $788 | â$17 | $754 |
Unicorn (Orig) | Advanced | $69,310 | 68% | 10.5% | 24mo | $483 | $2,300 | $579 |
Unicorn @ 60% | Advanced | $69,310 | 60% | 10.5% | 24mo | ~$714 | $2,300 | $810 |
Final Thoughts:
So when you normalize for residual and structure, my Prestige deal is actually better on paper considering trim. Not sure what the market is like now but march seemed to be their push to sell inventory for q1. Might have to wait for q2. Again not sure how well I did. so hope more of the seasoned vets here can give you their 2 cents
@Bavic1974 I would walk away 100%. Unless you cant wait,I got a better deal on higher trim and you can probably do better. How long have you been negotiating?
An unicorn deal is a mix of great lease programs and great negotiation.
Thereâs no need to justify anything to strangers on the internet.
Enjoy the car!
appreciate the extra information and again congrats!
I was contacted by them after speaking with the concierge over the phone and sending requests via website.
I do not have a hard lease agreement to go off of, only a summary sheet with some printed and some hand written info.
What was hand written was the monthly payment of
$853.47
Residual 62%
MF .00228
How did you negotiate them waiving the first months payment, simply demand it?
Yes, some of us have already moved on, which is a shame because I love my GV60, but not at 2x or 3x what Iâm currently paying for it.
@Bavic1974 different dealers need different numbers to look good which is why deals may vary from one offer to the other, some may due an MSRP, more aggressive rebates, or better financing. An amazing deal would be >10%off MSRP, best finance rate(MF), full incentives, with no dealer added fees no DAS.
Some rules of thumb are effective monthly= <1%MSRP is a good deal, but EVâs have inflated prices due to rebates. At the end of the day, you will know what price will make you feel good.
If they donât offer a lease sheet or a breakdown, the deal isnât warm enough anyways and they probably arenât seriously considering you as a lead.
Pretty sure no one here would take that as itâs iX/SQ6 money.
I balked on the offer and the dealership showed me their internal softwareâs detail sheet. MSRP of $69,540 and Dealer Cost of $68,168.
Hard to believe they are making .98% on a vehicle!
Sounds like some Hollywood accounting is going on.
As others have mentioned, really incredible deals come from dealers having their own sales incentives. I.e. Dealer will eat a 3k loss on this car to get <20% 2025 inventory business which gives a 50k bonus for the dealer. those numbers are made up but you get the idea. They usually time this around quarters (end of march was a good promotion cycle)
At the end of the day, if you really like the car and have considered similar options (lyriq, porsche macan ev, model y performance) and still want the car at some point you have to consider the market and options. Is there a more impressive car for the same money? What do you need this car for?
Appreciate the insights. Presently we are in a radio silence stance between myself and salesman.
I dont need this car. We have a 2023 BMW x5 45e, which was a transition vehicle to full electric. I really want a Rivian but they dont lease in Wisconsin.. So that left the EV9 and GV70 electric offering good tech and good incentives. I would go with a Lyric but have not seen very good offers, but have not done a deep dive. So i can walk away and not loose sleep, then I can wait for the 2026s to hit and see what is being offered.
I walked away saying that it was a bad deal and it should be more around $750 vs. $850.
