I’ve been a bit obsessed these past couple of weeks with leasing a new EV, and I finally snagged a deal I’m really happy with!
Initially, I was focused on a Cadillac Lyriq loaner. But then, I shifted my attention to the Cadillac Optiq after seeing some pretty sweet incentives that suggested I could get it for significantly less.
I ended up putting together a proposal based on other signed deals I’d seen, and it paid off! I was able to lease a Lyriq loaner with about 1,500 miles on it. Super excited about the deal I got.
Just an FYI for anyone else looking into this: I know there’s another $500 incentive if you sign up for a GM card, but I personally couldn’t get approved due to a snag with my credit report. So, keep that in mind as you’re exploring your options!
Absolutely amazing, I would so jump at anything in this range - we’re looking for one for my wife in the next couple of months, will keep an eye out for potential loaners in my area. Well done! Was the negotiation pretty tough, did you have to try several dealers?
I have been hawking the Cadillac inventory page and focusing on any cars listed as Courtesy Loaners. I initially reached out to multiple dealers in Houston when looking for a Lyriq but narrowed it down to 2 dealers when I finally decided to go with an Optiq. I sent them both the below proposal and one of them came back with the requested discount but had more fees/taxes. From there it was just a matter for getting rid of anything I could and landing on a number I was comfortable paying.
I was expecting the typical 1.2% Lenders & Members fee in lieu of the sales tax. Unfortunately, the full tax credit is apparently only available for the Lyriq. Optiq and Vistiq have partial sales credits. My paperwork shows ~2.7% sales tax based on amount on the contract.
Is this your question? If not it might help someone else.
The deal itself gets done outside of the Costco Auto (TrueCar) program, you just use the additional incentive that’s available to Costco members on a deal you put together yourself.
IME the deals that are offered through Costco Auto / TrueCar are terrible compared to what’s possible with some research and effort.
