Effectively $299/mo

On Friday I was alerted of this potential deal, by Saturday, I had purchased a $500 beater Hyundai in my local area. Registered immediately for $240 in fees. Sunday, business was closed. Monday, got the car! This morning, I was informed that the GSM backed out of all $5,000 MSRP deals, However, we worked out a deal before I left the house, originally he wanted $8,500 1-pay, but I was able to haggle him down to $7,200. Previously on Friday/Saturday, the numbers were supposed to be $6,300. Wish I knew they manually inputted the credit card numbers, I could’ve had a new Amex card with instant use.

FYI, no more SEs, SELs have a worse money factor and residue.

Dealer: Lehigh Valley Hyundai
Sales guy: Rasheed

I went and bought it in my other red rocket. This is a 2003 Elantra GT with ~150k miles, only issue is rust and engine knock, it drove up the tow truck ramp no problems! AC blows cold, bluetooth radio, moonroof, spoiler delete, new tires, new brakes, even a clean carfax!

AC Blows cold

Oh thank god. That’s the only thing that matters.

Congrats! Love the beater. Something I would probably do to save a few bucks, not because I need to, but just need to maximize the incentives at any cost.

Don’t you have to own the car for 30 days to qualify?

I didn’t read it in the fine print and dealer never asked how long I’ve had it for. I also owned a Ioniq 5 that I sold 9 months ago but it’s still on the lot, think technically it may still be registered to me?

It can’t be registered to you if it’s in dealer possession

If they didn’t ask you didn’t see it :eyes:

This isn’t even the most-sketchy registration they accepted, out of the LHers I know who just wiped out this dealer’s Hi6 inventory. I think the final beater costs, positive or negative, need to be factored into this effective.

Looking forward to the outcome of the beater. Worst case you can probably donate it and get some tax deductions lol.

I tried and tried to get a beater Volvo / Saab for my C40 deal but nothing was under a grand that would move under its own power. My proposal is that we should start a beater title library where for a higher membership tier on LH you can get a signed title for your desired make overnighted to you and once it is issued in your name you sign it and return it to the library.

I’m not a lawyer but that sounds like conspiracy to commit fraud

I checked with a scrapping website and they are willing to give me $500 site unseen. I think I could potentially get $750 out of it to recoup 100% of my cost

Time, money and effort we’ll spent

What about if another LHackr will bay it from You for a few days and then another one, so we can have one “loyalty car on duty” to be own by several people during one month. This is not illegal.

BTW. In NY if You will sell the car in less than 60 days from purchasing you are getting full registration cost back.

Think I would need title to sell. I know I can get unused registration back, but PA registration is like $40/year. I’m hoping I get the title soon so I can sell it or scrap it since it can’t pass inspections.
