The CX-5 is over 30k miles already (with another 8 months to go), and has some minor scratches in the front. Yet, it has roughly $1500 equity based on best condition estimate on Carmax.
I went to the dealer 3 times in all.
First time I spent roughly an hour or so on 8/6, did the test drive but had to leave in the midst of a negotiation.
Second time for 2 hours on 8/11, signed the contract after negotiations.
Third time today 8/12 for 15 mins, dropped off my Mazda and picked up the new car.
I am quite happy with the whole process and didn’t go through too much “pain” at the dealer. I would strongly recommend the dealer and the salespersons (upon PMs).
Very nice deal. Assuming your numbers are correct, don’t tell the other guy in the recent, locked Q3 thread (Premium+ Q3 as well) about your deal.
Really hope all of the others that said “show me someone getting more than 14% off” and those that said “what’s wrong with his deal” or “what could be better about this deal?” don’t see your deal either.
Thanks.
This $1500 equity was based on the “perfect” condition with CarMax; however the car actually has 6" long cut dent on the front logo/ grille… and paint scratches at front right corner, plus a very difficult to notice long crack on the windshield.
This deal is 2% better and that’s all accounted for the discount and is about a $30/mo better than that guy. Not an insignificant amount for sure but that other guy only had a terrible deal compared this because he had a higher msrp (he had about $1500 more depreciation to pay), he had a lower discount ($950 more) and he bought $2500 worth of warranties.
If you correct for the msrp and normalize it to 12k miles like OP and refund the warranties, that guy really was at 541 a month.
Definitely doesn’t warrant “best deal ever” awards but not terrible either. Just shows the OP here got a great deal on this.
Don’t disagree with your analysis at all. My only point was to note that many people were jumping in on those that referenced some things in the deal that could have better, and also to address those that somehow were of the opinion the prior deal (in the other thread) could not have been better.
