Nothing out-of-this world, but we are pretty happy with a reasonable payment on an absolutely gorgeous new car.
DAS included 1st month, fees, and some CCR. It looks like my wife will be going back to school next fall so she was adamant that we try to keep the monthly payment a bit lower for when she isn’t working for a while.
I mean honcker is offering a gt in my area for 300 a month and I’m tempted to just take it as is.
The touring model they have in the area is at like 270 for 30 more a month I rather have the extra 125 lbs of torque
This may be off completely different design. The CX-7 used a turbo motor built by Ford. Nowadays, that same base engine is used in the Ecoboost Mustang. My, how times have changed.
What didn’t break…
Car was dealer maintained, at less than 100k mi, all freeway driving too:
Fuel injectors in all cylinders
Turbo leak
Turbo rebuild
Exhaust leak
Transfer case
Transmission leak
3x battery changes
Sun roof leak
Paint issues
Everything started going wrong with the car as soon as the warranty expired.
I know Mazda dealers love to talk about how this car was developed in conjunction with ford and hence it sucked but in the end Mazda put their badge on it. The car was bought fully loaded to the tune of $35K. Got rid of it for less than $5K after only 8 years.
I would never lease or buy one and always tell friends to stay away from Mazda.
That is an impressive list, so I understand your frustration.
This is now our 3rd post-Ford Mazda and the previous 2 have had absolutely zero issues (other than someone crashing into my 3 and pushing it into a ditch, but that’s a different story).
FWIW, the brand is completely different since the split from Ford. Every vehicle they sell is new from the ground up since that era. And if I remember correctly Consumer Reports rated Mazda something like 6 in reliability, ahead of brands like Subaru and Honda.
But again, everyone’s experience is different and I appreciate you keeping Fan Boys like me in check.
EDIT: Looks like it’s been a while since I’ve read CR and they’ve updated their ratings. Please remind me to check my sources before posting late at night
Have you sat in a $40K 320i fart car lately? You have to unlock the thing with a key fob, there’s no CarPlay, and if you’re lucky, you get map pockets and a folding rear seat.
My family has had Mazdas since 1988 starting with a red 323 hatchback bought new. Next was a maroon 2002 Mazda Protege bought used with low mileage and finally a green 2003 Mazda MPV. Neither of the small cars had anything major, but the MPV became too unreliable once it was 15 years old. Maybe their smaller cars are more reliable than their SUV’s?
