Headed for M.A.R.S. :joy:

Got this CX-90 with 3k miles on it from the airport in Honolulu, Hawaii. $258 for 5 days. Avis preferred. Its a sluggish drive but I am enjoying the ventilated seats.

Some kind of Toyota hybrid that’s not an EV and not all gas??

Base Velar. Not sure about higher trims but drove ok, very underpowered though, and felt just plain cheap.

Hyundai Kona from Thrifty at SEA-TAC

Horrifically underpowered - would go for overtakes on one lane highways (with dashed center line of course) in rural Washington and the car would make a lot of noise but wouldn’t go anywhere

Bonus Blazer EV loaner with a cracked windshield

More nonsensical, unmitigated and inappropriate flagging for content that does not violate any ToS.

BMW 740i from Enterprise Exotics. My first time driving a BMW (that I can think of) and I was impressed. The 7 is probably a little too “big and old man” for my liking but I could definitely see a loaner 8 series in my future lol. Rental experience wasn’t the greatest but the cost was decent so I won’t complain.

Hertz in Lisbon said “we only have big SUVS for you”… and they pull up in this scrappy little thing.
So much better than an Escape! This thing had some miles on it, but super solid, well maintained and good tires. The manual transmission made it feel pretty peppy.
Hertz isn’t bad in the US, but they really take their cars seriously in Portugal. They are washing and detailing all the vehicles as they come back. Tire pressure was spot on, tank full.
We pick up cars here and they are usually dirty, over/under filled tires, dirty, etc.

Sixt had nice, clean cars when I picked one there. They were anal on return though.

Avis in Boston @ Logan.

Small sedan rate through Costco with free PC upgrade to a Subaru Ascent with 1100 miles.

All I can really say is the sound and speakers were surprisingly decent.

This V6 eats gas faster than the Grand Wagoneer I rented a few months ago.

From Enterprise Exotics…

What’s the best way to utilize statuses on a rental (pricewise)? Logan shows $100+/day cheapest in the summer. Crazy shit.

Easiest route: Costco travel as they generally have the lowest prices. I will book and then check back periodically because sometimes the prices go down before the rental period.

You can search each rental company and play the discount code/status game but to me that’s a waste of time.

You can always check Turo and whatnot, or go off airport for some of the big companies because those locations may be cheaper as well.

If you are actually going to be outside of Boston, you can check surrounding airports. When we were in CT and flew into Logan one time we took an Uber to Providence and rented there. It was 1/2 as much with Avis as it was for Logan and that was an entire week.

Costco was about the same as direct. I’ll check Providence airport, but even outside of Logan prices are not much better.

Agree but an issue I’ve had with Hertz on two recent rentals (same airport), is that they sneak in fuel charges at turn in. They don’t give you a receipt on the spot so you have to wait for it to be e-mailed and then go through their dispute process. Very annoying.
