Just dump it over the fence on HOA property lol
Seems like it was born to haul termite food around town.
Canceling my national rental and reserved a vehicle with NewWay. Navigating the insurance looked like a pain, I had a damage waiver built into my rental; however, there was an excess of 2500 euro. That coupled with the guidance Chase says to decline coverage and having to generate the letter and cross my finger all the stars aligned wasn’t worth the stress. Thanks for the tip on New Way, I’ll make sure to post what we get (Standard SUV).
National one-way car rental from a regional airport to Chicago Ohare. I reserved a full-size car and I was given the option of this BMW X3 or a minivan, he said those were the two options, they had plenty of others on the lot, I assume those two were destined back to Chicago and it had Illinois plates. Nice ride, had 5k on the odometer.
Currently in Hawaii with the family. Tried Turo for the first time and got a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon with Sky One-Touch Power Top
23 Rav4 with 6mi on the odo. Presidents Circle at Hertz MSP.
Totally soulless, but lucked out with a new car.
Awfully high bar to expect a rental to have “soul” whatever that means
I picked a Camry recently because I knew it would have adaptive cruise, it was that or a Charger that smelled like smoke
Please point me to where I said I expected a Rav4 to drive like a Porsche.
You brought up soul so what were you expecting?
Certainly wasn’t expecting someone to jump down my throat and challenge the use of a simple adjective.
Not worth any further response. Hopefully your day turns around.
What else was in PC there?
2023 F-150 XLT SuperCrew V8 with 6 miles on the odometer from PDX Hertz (Five Star). Hypermiled it back to the airport from the gas station and got 24.6 MPG.
Overall, not as comfy or enjoyable as the RAM 1500 HEMI I rented before. The Coyote V8 didn’t feel that torquey, yet it didn’t seem happy at high revs, which was surprising as I thought these V8s loved revs in Mustang applications. May have been a transmission calibration thing. The 10-speed was jerky and loved to be in the highest gear possible.
Got a rental Santa Fe Calligraphy during my time in North Carolina from National. It was a very comfortable ride compared to my Elantra N .
A few Kia Sportages that looked beat, didn’t even walk up to them, and a Nissan Rouge. It was only 3 or 4 cars…counter line was snaked around all guides and out to walkway. Got very lucky.
Idk why the f150s feel huge while driving in comparison to ram 1500s
Love the Aztek-caliber body cladding on these.
We concluded a European vacation with multiple rentals. We had a BMW X3 as a one way rental to Chicago O’hare. Once we arrived in Frankfurt Germany via National I had a full size wagon (manual / VW Passat or equivalent). I have executive level with National and the agent looked at our luggage and said she would check for any available upgrades. We were given the choice of a Seat Terraco or a Volvo XC60. The Seat probably would have fit us and our luggage more comfortably but the Volvo was brand new, we were the first to rent. We logged quite a few miles and returned at the Munich airport. It was not the best autobahn cruiser, anything more than 150-160 km/h it got out of it’s comfort zone, also it was thirsty at fast highway speeds but overall was a great vehicle.
The next leg of our trip was Ireland and we tried out NewWay as recommended by @Yanoosh. The actual fufillment was done through Avis but it was really straight forward, full coverage in the rate. All very small vehicles at the Dublin airport. We reserved a full size automatic SUV and were given a Nissan Qashqai with about 7k km on the odometer. We barely fit our luggage in this compact cross-over. I was sort or regretting not keeping the National reservation because they also had quite a few XC60’s in the parking garage which I suspect we would have been given; however the peace of mind and full insurance coverage is really recommended in Ireland. The roads are are really narrow and at times it’s impossible not to brush into the vegetation on the side of the roads when opposing oncoming traffic forces you to move to the far outside of the road. Also the parking garages in Dublin are almost impossible to fit without some scraping and potential bumping. It got great fuel economy being a hybrid, only down side is noisy at highway speeds and the infotainment screen could have been a higher quality/resolution. Would highly recommend NewWay if you are renting in Ireland with their transparent pricing model and full coverages.
Our return vehicle at O’hare at National Executive aisle was a Chrysler Pacifica. Almost half of the vehicles on the aisle were chrysler minivans and my kids said they wanted room after the Nissan ;). There were a few appealing looking sedans like a Charger GT and some pick up trucks, but wouldn’t work with our luggage. We took the minivan over some mid size SUV’s like Equinox, Rav4, Santa Fe, Subaru Outback. It had about 8k miles but already was developing a rattle in the front wheel area on the driver side but was overall pretty comfy and the tech was good.
Well, this was a blast from the past…
Rented from Herts in Fort Lauderdale. Havent rented from them in year’s due to CostcoTravel having good deal w Avis most of the time.
This time around 1 week rental for a 7 pass SUV was less than Costco plus had a status at Hertz via AmEx Plat.
Honestly - not sure about Hertz if I want to do them again. It was cheaper but when we got there QX60 was with a bench seat and we wanted to be with captain chairs. Went back to the counter and they could not change to any other car in the same class. Anything else they were asking $80 per day. Stupid number.
At Avis I’ve got back to the counter and switched cars multiply tomes without issues. That was very odd.
Plus this one had 50k miles and had dings all over the place.
Is that what bankruptcy does to a customer service at the company?
Seems consistent with my experience with Hertz. Avis does a much better job all around.
