Rented this baby crossover from Zurich for a week from Sixt using amex travel for $272 while all the other sites were asking a lot more! Had dynamic cruise control! Which made my life much easier!! Trx didn’t arrive in time otherwise it would of gone to Vegas
Got a basic rental from Costco
They gave me an accord
Costco??
Costco booking whatever it is
Gotta admit. It’s a pretty good looking car
Use the money you saved on gas to gamble
Costco Travel. Great rental car rates.
If you aren’t already, make sure you check AutoSlash too.
Costco Travel is among multiple sources and discount opportunities they check, and it’s been a really long time (5 years?) since I’ve found the best car rental rates at Costco Travel
AutoSlash always finds something better, and that’s nearly always at Priceline.
Other times it’ll direct me to one of the rental companies directly when the Amex Platinum 4-hour grace period on returns applies. On applicable itineraries, this saves the cost of an entire rental day.
The main potential benefit of Costco Travel to me is a complimentary second driver, but that’s only a decision factor in maybe 5% of my rentals.
Kodiaqs are large, I think its based on the Q7 platform? Sucks we don’t get these on this side of the pond.
Sixt Berlin and National Berlin us usually treat me well.
Got an e sedan upgrade from a regular “full size” car, 2 years ago.
Few years back I had an S class booked with Avis and they wanted to give me a Touareg, insisted it was in the same class as S class, 7 series and A8…… there was a conference in Berlin and I think all the nice cars were out. Needless to say I got a rate adjustment and took an e wagon instead.
Had an “X5 or similar” reserved and they tried to give me a GLC.
I don’t see Turo mentioned much,if at all, in the thread. Is it not good?
COSTCO has consistently been the cheapest thus far, I just booked a 4 door Wrangler for Dec 6-7th at $85 all in with Costco (Avis), also if rates change you can just cancel and rebook the same (I did it at $92 then price dropped to $85 so I rebooked and cancelled the first)
Hertz was $110 and I am a GOLD member with CODE 4 (Costco discount code) cheapest car is Mazda 3/Nissan Rogue $72 so for $13 more I’d rather drive the Wrangler
“Your AutoSlash link gave me a rate of $198 for the Wrangler”
My very next rental is ALO-MLI, 10/20-23, and if I’d waited until today to book it:
The odd thing about this reservation is that neither AutoSlash nor Costco Travel could offer me anything but Avis, which is probably due to this being a one-way rental between two (very) minor airports.
Normally I’d expect to see both sets of search results with multiple rental car companies, with AutoSlash/Priceline (non-Costco) being less expensive by 10% or more.
Avis-Budget is the only car rental option at ALO.
Oh, how funny. I had the “opposite” happen when I rented a car in Oregon. I had rented something Nissan Rogue sized, but, when I arrived, they said that the only non-sedan they had was… a Lincoln Navigator!!! I had to pay more, but I thought, “Why not?”
Got a Ford Ecoboost as my first rental car today. Words cannot describe how awful this thing was. Exchanged it for an Altima.
Sixt suddenly and pleasantly surprised. MB C-wagon auto for a week: $312 in LIS. Golf, BMW 1, BMW 3, BMW X2, BMW 4 & 4 Cabrio, E-class sedan & wagon, Q5 - all cheaper than Renault Captur ($632) and Clio ($589)
Sixt is just hit or miss, as with most rental companies. They’ve got nicer cars than the others, but I booked a GLE and they tried to tell me an X4 is in the same category. No thanks
Conversely, picked up a GLC from MIA National Executive Aisle, with 18 miles on the dash (there were 2 of them with sub 20 miles in the aisle, and a Q5 I initially went to, with 32,000 miles on the dash).
