I see that a lot of people on here have strong opinions. I tried Rodo last weekend and it worked decently for me. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars…
The good: I did get the car at nearly the price promised. Everything advertised about the car was accurate. The price was somewhat better than what was being advertised by dealers which is why I went with them and it avoided the ridiculous back and forth negotiating which I hate. I’ve been through sales training back in the day similar to car sales and I have no tolerance for it. The actual face-time required at the dealership was minimal, about 45 minutes to sign paperwork, which is very positive in my book.
The not-so-good: Rodo said the dealer was 20 miles away, but it was actually 40 and Rodo had my correct address. There was no free delivery available and Rodo’s concierge asked me to pay $100 for delivery despite the location snafu (this is counter to what is advertised by Rodo). The concierge was not particularly useful except to make excuses and apologize. It took them 5 days to get a hold of the dealer and the concierge just kept saying he was calling them and leaving messages…, at one point the deal looked dead. My guess is that the dealer is understaffed given the COVID thing and the concierge just called the receptionist once a day and left a message that never got delivered. Not very concierge-like in my opinion as there should be some contact available if they have a business relationship. The price, as I said above, was not exact. The monthly payment went up $4 but the cash down decreased about $35. Not enough to say screw the deal.
All in all, I would use them again if the price was right but they are not exactly what they advertise, which is pretty much par for the course in the car sales business. They’re basically a broker with little influence over the dealers. If the dealers want to play bait-and-switch or doesn’t want to do delivery, then Rodo just shrugs. They’re not revolutionizing much of anything, but I do appreciate that the negotiating is minimized.
