Recommendations for tall people?

Hi hackers,
I’m helping a friend hack a lease deal, initially got an A5 PP deal but after he went test drive he found that A5 is too small for him
(Friend is 6’4) , same thing to Q5 so we had to pass

Any midsize lux SUV /sedan recommendations for tall people ?

No X5 or Gle, he can’t afford these lol

Did you ask Google?

As someone who is both tall and big, I have a few insights on this topic.

1st, if you don’t have people regularly sitting in the backseat, there are some smaller vehicles where there is much seat movement, so if no one is sitting behind you and you can crank seat back, there is plenty of legroom (e.g. my son’s 2011 bmw 3 series has leg room for days for the driver, but no one can sit behind me if I drive it).

2nd, if he has back problems, getting in and out of a low down car is a challenge, which pushes you to SUVs/trucks. Due to the nature of many SUVs, the seating position can be less than ideal for leg support.

3rd, for me lateral legroom is just as important on long rides as length. I hate center consoles because they trap my right knee and make for an uncomfortable experience. Since no cars come with front split bench seats anymore, I drive a full size pickup truck without a console. So very comfortable even though legroom length measurements are not really high. I have the center seat rest down as my armrest/cupholder and it works great. Vehicles with lower center consoles can help as well if your knee can spill over the console area.

I’m 6’5” and have zero problems in an A/Q5, so what does your friend mean by too small? In what way?

I ask because, as the post above me details, there are different reasons that can make a particular vehicle uncomfortable and there are different solutions. For example, no BMW sedan with the base seats is comfy for me on long hauls, but the sport seats, thanks to the thigh extensions, are fine.

Unfortunately your friend is SOL.

There’s hardly anything luxury that can be leased in your friend’s budget of $500 plus tax, let alone any of the large luxury vehicles.

Maybe Jeep GC 4xe or Nissan Murano if those deals still exist in the Marketplace

Endomorph, mesomorph or ectomorph?

It would help to narrow down the problem.

My ID4 fits super tall people in my opinion. Also the Jeeps are not bad at all…

Broad shouldered too or just tall?

So it’s like he has to move the driver seat all the way back to feel comfy driving, but he usually have passengers filled out the back seats too, he wants something still has decent amount of room in the back after he moves the seat all the way

Broad shoulder too, he’s a big guy
Q5 headroom is fine but legroom too small for him

His budget is any lux under 650, so we are thinking of mdx or xc90 , seems very hackable

Id say Mes+ lol
Headroom on Q5 is fine for him but the problem is the legroom

Yea … I told him to get a jeep but he wants something in lux segment . Well…

Xc90 doesnt work well for broad shoulders. Better in an xc60.

The proper answer here is volvo s90

I’m 6’1 and very comfortable in my 4xe, at least before I had to put a car seat behind me. I don’t know what the deals are like. I got mine for $425/mo but that was 2 years

My wife’s is certainly roomy, that’s for sure. But, MAN, do I hate getting in and out of it. I swear the seat is lower than anything I’ve ever owned, which includes sports cars. Of course, I’m older than when I had sports cars. But, anyway, it is much worse than my Charger and my WRX. Charger is the best for big people who want to leave rear seat room, but not the answer to any leasing question, for sure.

Your expedience is exactly the reason I asked, lol.

I haven’t had any trouble with leg room length wise but center consoles are annoying on every luxury SUV. They’re both huge and manage to be useless storage wise at the same time typically. Not sure if there’s anything if that’s the issue you just have to deal with it. The Volvos are fine headroom wise from what I remember but so is the Q5 so I’m assuming it’s not that. Haven’t really been in anything in quite a long time that doesn’t go back far enough (6’3). Side to side wise though just older vehicles and trucks for the most part are the only very comfortable vehicles

I know you were asking for luxury cars, but partner is a long-legged 6’3" and has no issues in his CX-5 or my Golf Sportwagen.

I’m 5’11" but have issues w/ Volvos b/c have unusually short arms, so I need to sit very upright. Volvo seats seem to be mounted higher than are our car brands, so my head is actually uncomfortably (for me) close to the headliner.

If your friend is very muscular, he may wish to compare shoulder room (instead of just headroom) and also look at how big/wide the seat itself is? A car w/ confining seats may not be so comfortable for him.

I’m thinking maybe some like Aviator or like a Yukon/Tahoe? Could maybe also look at an Infiniti QX60?
