Really struggling to find a 'deal' in this market. Looking for mid-luxury EV or PHEV for mid $600's/month

,

Located in Austin, TX. Coming up on lease end of a 2021 Audi E-Tron ($0 down, 36 months, 10k miles, $725/month all-in) and with rates so high we are really struggling to find something in the $600’s all in (taxes, fees etc). Our E-Tron was $79K MSRP and now we’re seeing mid $50K cars in the $750+ range, not including taxes etc and usually with several thousand down.

We’re looking for a mid-level luxury EV or PHEV (preference for SUV/Crossovers) with:

  1. Drive Assist (adaptive cruise & lane keep)
  2. Good range (260+)
  3. Sunroof
  4. Decent acceleration
  5. Nice to haves - ventilated seats and heads up display

So far, have looked at:

Cadillac Lyriq - crazy high rates, $1100 per month w/ $0 down
Mustang Mach-E - closer to our budget, but overall a pretty mehh car
2024 Polestar 2 single motor - mid to high $700’s with tax
Hyundai Ioniq Limited - Ugly as sin and still high $700’s
Volvo Xc60 Recharge ultimate - $800s

We have Costco, my wife works for a university, and I graduated grad school in Jan 2023. We do not qualify for the EV tax incentives.

I’m getting the feelings my expectations are too high in the current market, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you’re leasing you will be able to use the EV tax credits. It’s only if you’re financing or paying cash when they have the income cap for it.

Good to know, ty!

You’re welcome, were they applying that $7500 credit to the deals you posted above?

On all the Volvo’s yes, not sure about the Mustang, but honestly that one would be my last choice. Ioniq yes as well.

We can help but you’ll probably need some down as well as Costco to get into the 600’s for Q8 etron.

We could def get into an i4.

Or go with the best and skip the rest.

For the E-tron would the cash down (when factored into the 36-months) still keep all-in monthly in the $600 range? If so that may be our best bet. The i4 is nice but the wife is pretty set on an SUV. Would the i4 be the base trim, or could we get to the e or xDrive40 with drive assist? The range on that one is pretty compelling…

Sent you a DM.

Also keep in mind that if you’re financing the deal, the tax credit would be based on your income for 2023 OR 2022. Not sure if that would make a difference but for some, it may.

Hey @NewCarGuy, how is your search going? I am in the exact same area looking with nearly the same criteria.

Texas is a whole nother animal because of the tax situation.

ID4 recently was posted with a good deal tho

Did something change recently?

Would love to get some help on a q8 etron in the 600 range. Located in socal. Thanks!

Wouldn’t we all :grinning:

I am in the same boat as well!

Regarding what?

I have a line on a nice stelvio in the Midwest that can be leased 36mo 10k/yr 54,900 sticker for $399/mo with $5000 down. I’ll let you know if I pass if you’re interested!

That include Texas tax?

Doubt it does.
