Range Rover Sport 2019 purchase or lease....2016 Range Rover Sport Trade or Sell

I own a 2016 Range Rover Sport and I am either trading it in or trying to find the best way to sell it and then make sure I am getting the best deal on my newly ordered 2019 Range Rover Sport. I have all the numbers from the dealer including what he will give me on my trade but numbers aren’'t working as I had hoped.

MSRP on my newly ordered 2019 Range Rover Sport is 77,459.00
Savings: -2,712.00
My Dealer Quoted 2019 RangeRover Sport Selling price: 74,747.00
My Trade 2016 Range Rover Sport V6 HSE Supercharged odometer 26,841miles : $47,500.00
Sales Sub Total: 27,247.00
Tax: 1,749.69
Doc Fee: 479.00
Security Coding: 269.00
Registration: 135.00
Trade Balance: 26,000.00
Net Sale Price: 55,879.69

Now considering leasing and he is going to give me some numbers tomorrow but don’t want to throw money away. I don’t understand lease numbers. Can I give these details to anyone personally to ask for advice on how to best proceed. Also, is there a way to sell my range rover fast for top dollar? It’s beautiful…White, Ivory Interior, perfect condition but someone hit my bumper in a parking lot, it was repaired but unfortunately although so minor it shows up as an accident on car fax despite the perfection of my regularly dealership serviced vehicle.

You already did. Just post all the numbers when you get them and about 100 good samaritans will help you.
For selling - get quotes from carvana and vroom.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply Ursus!

What is this, the negative equity on your 2016 RR Sport?

Yes, although I actually owe 25K on my 2016 sport, not 26K

You owe 25K period or you owe 25K on top of the trade-in value they are giving you?

I think it would be of great benefit to start reading here: https://leasehackr.com/blog?category=Leasing%20101

That should be a good starting point for understanding lease numbers.

I owe 25k on my 2016 Sport…dealer offered me 47,500.00 trade value (my profit 22,500.00 to put toward purchase of my 2019 Sport or in my pocket if I opt for lease)

Here’s auction estimates, 47.5 is fair from a dealership, with the lower miles the estimate is 48.4. As others have stated, try Carmax (They usually pay full auction value), Carvana, Vroom, Bidlane

Is this a good Lease offer?

2019 RangeRover Sport V6 Supecharged HSE top line is 12,000 M/year, bottom line 15,000 M/yr I probably only need 10K M/yr so he will send me numbers on that tomorrow

I know these don’t lease well but effective payment of 1200/ month sound horrible. You need to try to get a much better dealer discount.

 darn I have purchased my last 2 Range Rover Sports from this dealer…thought I could trust him. However, what I see is more like 1,120/mo with the first month being paid upfront with fees 2,659.34. He said 10,000/M year would be 1,100.00/mo. This is my first time leasing I normally purchase so it’s all new to me. Is this a bad Range Rover sport lease deal?

That is naive thinking in pretty much every line of business let alone automotive…

Yes, I know but it is who I am. That’s why I’m here. I need help & guidance

Then you are at the right venue. Look at all the responses above and some are supported with facts from legitimate sources…

Out of curiosity, what is the main reason you want to move from 2016 to 2019 of the same vehicle?

I never keep my Range Rovers much beyond 3yrs. I like to get out while the warranty is still valid and value is still there. Usually buy but this time leaning toward lease

also I drive low miles. My existing sport (which i do love!) has only 26K miles and I’ve been driving it for 37months

I actually order the exact same combo White with Ivory interior & zebrano woodwork

Honestly I have no idea what to go back to the dealer with? Any advice with numbers that I can use to go back to him is so so very much appreciated. I ordered this vehicle in July but I am not obligated to it. Would like to make a deal with them because i do like them & have been with them for a number of years but obviously I have protect myself & the numbers are important to me
