There is no Volvo/Geely corp. Geely is the Corp that owns Volvo and Polestar. A-plan is a Volvo program, Polestar may have their own.
Not sure why you donāt think I understand this. Geely is the parent company which owns Volvo, Polestar and other brands. Polestar clearly inherits most of Volvoās DNA but is a separate brand. How much itās an independently operating (from Volvo) company is mostly shrouded. Geely wants us to think Polestar is completely separate from Volvo, but the jury is still out imo. If you replaced the Polestar logos of a P2 nobody would blink at thinking itās a Volvo.
Yes, I use shorthand āVolvoā to talk about Polestarās corporate parent because thereās obviously a Swedish connection. I will continue to do so because I donāt look at a Polestar 2 and think āGeelyā.
I originally replied to your post wishing for a-plan on Polestar, which is a Volvo program. Polestar has nothing to do with a-plan. Geely may decide to give some incentives to Volvo owners to keep them in the family, however. Think of Volvo as OEM for Polestar, sure.
I got an email today from my a volvo dealer in the bay area advertising 0% apr lease special: 475/month for 39 months. 5470 due at signing that includes 4k down payment and 995 acquisition fee, 0 security deposit and 1st month payment. Based on msrp 59,990 plus 1300 destination destination fee and 39,198 residual. Deal is advertised as expiring 5/31/21. I havenāt run through Leasehackr calculator yet but I used polestar configurator and got an estimated lease payment that was close as there arenāt many option unless you go for the $5k performance package. I may go check it out tomorrow. I am also looking at Ford Mach E and their Ford Options is much worse with 2.25% apr for 36 months and 44% residual! But with Ford Options you get the $7500 federal tax credit.
That lease pricing comes out to $8k/yr including taxes. You can (and should) get a XC90 Recharge for that much.
Hey hedgefundie - Iāll DM you on my current status around getting a XC90 recharge. Thanks again for all your help so far
Since Polestar seems to be operating under a different sales model than Volvo, does anyone happen to have any idea of what their dealer and sales compensation plans are like?
I asked a Polestar sales consultant about the $7500 and he said its already cooked into the deal
I was tempted by this too but Iām expecting them to have to go lower than a Model 3 to pull people in. I assume itās the same bank as Volvo so no buyout/transfer etc
Continuing the discussion from Polestar 2 Leasing:
Hi All - Received the below lease quote from Polestar. To my eyes, it does not look good. Any advice here would be appreciated. Document fee of 537 seems absurd and Iām not seeing the federal tax credit incorporated in here at all.
Link to calculator:
They have not been passing it on, but you are seeing (at least some of) it in the residual and MF
Not able to get anything off of the car MSRP wise? I would check to see how long it was on the lot for. I know its tough to get any type of discount right now.
MF is super low too. I would ask them about the federal incentive and any NJ incentives as well. (I would want to see it without it being rolled in.)
Does Polestar offer MSDs?
Have you done a meaningful test drive of the car?
thereās no negotiation on polestars. itās like tesla.
Test drove the car today and thoroughly enjoyed it for what it is. I would pass on the performance package and spec Pilot/Plus.
In todayās crazy market I think I would take it over a m340i. On a 36/15 lease for a $58k car its $699pm with $1400 DAS (with $750 clean air rebate, but without CCRP $2,000 rebate), which isnāt possible for a m340i. Polestar also includes free maintenance, EA charging, and data for 3 years. In CA, youāre saving at least $150-$200pm in fuel as well.
Exactly why I got one. Itāll hold me over until this craziness blows over.
That would apply to any EV. Sounds like an artificial way to make a Polestar look good in an apples:oranges comparison.
Fuel savings also rely on charging at work or home. So the value of free EA charging on occasion is rather small. As is maintenance on most EV and the cost of data.
True, but I donāt know of any EV in this segment that leases similarly to compare to. Just highlighting one facet of this particular one
I think it depends. I currently donāt have a 240 V outlet where I live and no chargers at work, but do have an EA charger across the street.
Yes - Polestar brought it to my apartment and let me take it out on my own. Scheduling a second drive this weekend and the specialist is letting me spend an hour with it - normally they just do 30min test drives. My takeaway was it felt solid/heavy in a good way, one piece of metal, screwed together well, thoroughly impressed with build quality, bank vault like doors, etc.
Some minor gripes include - the digital dashboard is not very customizable to what Iād like. Something as simple as displaying what media youāre playing is not possible. The icons for Pilot Assist sit very low in the dash and the steering wheel blocks it.
Goodā¦ as long as you are happy thatās what matters.
