Trump was just on TV taking credit for low gas and saying we have never seen gas prices like this since the 1950s. Obviously he wasnāt pumping his gas in the late 90s.
Iām quite sure they dipped to $20/barrel in 2008-2009 also. I loaded up on oil etfs then and Iām doing it again. War drums are a banging which is bullish for futures.
Edit they were $30/barrels in 2008-9. Adjusted for inflation we dropped to the $15 range already based on that.
Mapco by me was $1.15 yesterday and Mapco sent me a 20 cent off offer. Too bad I was already filled up.
They did not. The low was $33, down from $148ish.
Fack checking isnāt a strength of the American people. More concerning is Trumpās flippant attitude toward this oil crisis. The Russians and Saudis couldnāt come to an agreement to limit production enough to keep oil prices up so they basically decided to say f$#& it ādrill baby drillā with one of the main goals being to drive American shale producers out of business. When they have bankrupted our energy industry/ dramaticly reduced out domestic production, they will cut their own production and oil prices will sky rocket, at least temporarily. If this crisis has taught us anything it should be that we need to strongly consider not being dependant on foreign powers for essential goods.
Also, certain folks are saying this is like a huge tax cut. What? I have bought 4 gallons of gas over the past 3 weeks. Cheap gas doesnāt matter when the country is in lock down mode.
And obviously if you are cheering $20 a barrel as a tax cut, you donāt mind buying oil from dictators that puts your shale brothers in Texas/North Dakota out of work.
And when those tyrants have put your brothers out of work, they will put you out of work by jacking up the prices back up.
Yes the average idiot cheering for 99 cents oil under these circumstances is the guy who charges his car payment to his credit card.
Paid $1.63/gallon to fill the tundra today w 87
93 (for the remainder of the Fleet) was still 3.29
@Siejammy Rt1 in Norwood
Also the only sbux open w a drive thru 25-30 deep this AM
Irving? I get my gas at Costco, going tomorrow so I canāt confirm the latest but Gasbuddy entries claim premium is $1.89, woohoo!
Surprisingly the Sunoco right at the foot of JLR Norwood!
1.89 for Prem is incredible
Seems too good to be true. I filled up last week and it was $2.50; we shall see!
1.61/2.35 spread in NJ still. never seen it at 74 cents beforeā¦
Does anyone really notice performance difference regular vs premium? Huge spread in pa for premium, I canāt tell the differenceā¦
Any modern engine can run anything, but some are fussier about it.
My GTI barely got by on 91, and never from Costco. The XC60 has always had 91 but doesnāt care from where, no experiments planned since a tank lasts a month now. My WRX did ok on 87 once in a while but seemed wheezy.
Curious what others experience has been.
Ive put regular in every car Iāve ever owned and never noticed anything performance wise. Multiple late 90s- early 2000s AMGs were my highest performing cars. E55, c32, c43, clk 55 as well as my z3m.
The i8 I have now doesnāt care what I put in that 3 cyl. Haha. If I owned it I would consider premium, but Iād never buy a $175k car in the first place. I filled it up twice with premium since I got it and canāt tell the diff. Also Iāve never taken it out of sport mode for more than a few miles so I am using the gas engine.
1.39 at costco up the road in Dedham
Seriously. Our spread was between 40-50 cents already but lately itās been as high as $1 for some stations. Austin and SA metro were horrible about this.
i get that you dont own the car, but if youāre constantly running on the gas, putting low-grade gas into a small displacement engine that bmw turbo-ed the shit out of, will greatly reduce performance and probably cost you more than using premium.
Wisconsin has some of the lowest prices for some reason. Appleton Costco was at .97
