Numbers on Prius Prime?

Hey guys, I’m shopping for the sexiest car on the market, arguably, the Toyota Prius Prime. This is the one with 25mi EV range. The issue is that there’s only about 7 of them total within 300 mi area (South FL). I’ve emailed 5 of them (not the 2 limited trims). What has been your experience during this covid market on a car with such low inventory?

I already got an offer back at MSRP. What type of discounts could I expect, 10% off cap costs?

Thanks,
Rolando

If there are 7 total in 300 miles, you will not get 10% off.

You need to expand your search, pick a different vehicle, or pay to play. Those are your choices.

Or wait.

I might just go for Prius (not prime) instead where there’s about 700 within the same area. Thank you!

Buy in MA, fly up and drive it home. Look at Imperial Toyota milford ma, 2600 off + rebate (4K?)

Or if you have Costco look at the Bolt

The only thing sexier than a Prius Prime is Christiane Amanpour in a snowmobile suit.

Ooh, that does look a lot better, thank you!

I wasn’t aware of the benefits of expanding my search: $4.5k in trunk cash, plus being able to choose a lot more cars! I’ve found a few dealers willing to play ball with out of state buyers. About two of them said no for financing, but a lot more were willing.

I found $4,500 of Toyota Cash for this model in NE regions, about 1000 miles away.

The base model LE has an MSRP of $29,000. So far the best deal I found was $2,300 off. Additionally, when you include the $4,500 Toyota Cash the total discount is $6,800 off. There’s on top of that an additionally $4,500 of tax incentive, making this car OTD about $20,000.

Is this a good deal for a purchase?

But you will not qualify for NE cash if you are registering to FL… Otherwise, we would all lease out BOLTs from Bay Area…

I didn’t know how customer cash works. No dealership has told me that I wouldn’t qualify, and I told them I’d register in Florida.

Regional differences in $$$ aside, some manufacturer incentives are where you purchase (eg Volvo), some are where you register (eg Ford). And in the case of Bolts, CA and NJ have state rebates that require you to buy and domicile in-state.

I assume Toyota’s rebates are where you purchase (based on the volume of broker shipping), but someone correct me if I’m wrong?

That’s a pretty good car for 20K. You’ll be able to sell it to carvana for that in a year.
