It depends, Slickdeals is good for low end to mid end but high end is different,
Does “business casual” even exist anymore outside of law firms, big accounting/consulting firms and old school companies?
All of my clients have a minimum net worth of $50m and I’ve yet to meet one wearing a sport coat. Very casual
For me, yes. I still have to adhere to the “rules”.
$500 Southwest GC from Costco for $429
Now do this for Delta, JetBlue, maybe even American…
Today should be this thread’s day to shine, if Black Friday was like it used to be 10 years ago, not the “markup 100% to mark down 50%” holiday that it is now.
Agreed. Only ones I see are really for SW and Alaska. Unless it is within CA or Vegas, Phoenix, etc., and under $100 for one way I will not fly SW.
For sure. The BF deals I have seen suck as the BF of 10 years ago is gone. With online retailing it is BF all the time now on marked up prices year round as you said.
I saw Sam’s ad for $400
Yes, they sold out in minutes.
So for years I have sold things on eBay like old electronics and other stuff when it is small and worth the sale vs. the tax deduction on the donation. Now the eBay cut is so big and shipping costs are so high I always think twice.
Have had decent luck on Craigslist with wheels, cars, and other bigger items but there are sometimes too many scammers, tirekickers and other idiots as well. No fees (generally) is a plus.
Enter FB Marketplace. What a shitshow. Dipped the toe in the water and it was awful. Mostly garbage and scams, people literally selling junk everywhere. Some hidden gems but not enough to make looking at any of it worth it. If you are trying to sell something there is almost no way to stand out above the noise and have it make sense.
FB Marketplace is really indicative of what much of the country has become. Throwaway insanity.
Do you have a store? I think I pay like 29/mo to have a “store” and the fees are cutdown pretty significantly.
I don’t as I really don’t sell enough but I should probably do it anyway.
I don’t know how many of you use W+ for groceries that comes free with the Amex Plat but W+ is soooo bad where I live. They always mess up the order, either forgetting items or delivering items I didn’t order, and it’s impossible to get a delivery slot the same day.
Shipt annual plan is $49 today ($99 usually) which gives you free Target grocery delivery with $35 orders (some other stores too but I use it for Target).
I don’t like going grocery shopping so for me it’s worth it to pay ~$4/mo to have it and be able to get food delivered reliably the same day. They also don’t mark up the food like instacart (at least not for Target), it’s sometimes even cheaper via Shipt, they run promos.
Yes, W+ is a no-brainer due to Amex but it absolutely sucks with groceries. Orders are almost always incorrect.
Will have to try Shipt.
That and It seems like half of the items I want to purchase have to be picked up in/at the store. I certainly wouldn’t pay for W+ directly out of pocket.
Totally agree with everything said here and I have been though the same thing. There needs to be a new Craigslist-type classifieds that people actually use. One that has good search features and maybe a nominal fee so people put some effort into creating the ads.
FB Marketplace is terrible. I posted some take-off tires on there for a really good price and had no less than 20 people ask if they are still available, never to be heard form again. I can also never find anything on there and if I do find something remotely close to what I am looking for, it is on the other side of the country.
Pretty sure on FB Marketplace you can filter by x number of miles from zip code. I get it though, it only mildly helps when the person 5 miles away still won’t answer questions.
Occasionally I scroll through the “for sale” section on the NextDoor app which is awful for a lot of things and helpful for like two.
But W+ through Amex comes with free Paramount +
Yes that is great, I can run Good Burger 2 for free in the background while I yell at the W+ customer service person to issue me a credit for the messed up order again
