@Lvs23 and @joeblogs …
How would you both compare the Ariya to your ID.4? I have a 2023 Pro S AWD and am thinking of taking advantage of a 2023 Ariya Platinum+ lease. Just want to be aware of the positives/negatives in comparison to the ID.4. I’ve read that the display isn’t as high res as the ID.4. Also read about 12V battery issues on the Ariya. No idea if those are correct or widespread, but would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I’ve had no issues with my Ariya over the first 6000 miles, 12V battery or otherwise. Vehicle has been flawless. In my brief experience, the ID.4 UI, while bigger, was extremely laggy so not that hard to do better. However, I think most of us are using Carplay or Android auto with our Ariya, the built-in nav is terrible. I have no complaints with screen resolution or response when using my phone as the car computer. Now, activating the 360 cameras, that button response is bad. Personally, I don’t think the premium for the Platinum is worth it and I’m not a fan of the navy-blue interior. Save your money and get an Evo+

The issues I have had with my Ariya so far:

  • Sometimes won’t lock / unlock door using handle. Moving to a different door always solves it.
  • Auto Folding Mirrors always goes out of alignment. I stopped using it
  • Sometimes the Next / Previous buttons don’t respond on Android Auto. Must unplug and plug back in.
  • Couple of times, the radio display rebooted while driving.
  • After 1 update, my passenger seat was rolled all the way back and my car was changed to KM over Miles.

I can only speak for the Ariya single motor since I have the base Engage, I’m sure the AWD is more fun to drive. Personally I like the handling and performance of the ID.4 over the Nissan. But I’m pretty much a payment shopper so I usually go with the deal. Nissan dash layout is better but the nav screen is smaller or not as tall. The VW lacks in the instrument cluster dept and the controls/amount of buttons is better on the Nissan. Nissan more SUV like and VW more car like as far as driving/driver position.

Have had some issues with the Nissan being unresponsive with the radio controls, but infrequent and nothing with the 12v battery. Did have some issues with TPMS sensors losing connection, think it’s fixed. Drivetrain feels more refined on the VW and the estep crap on the Nissan doesn’t act consistently.

Great review! You would prefer the half leatherette and suede seats over the full leather?

Thanks for those details. Very helpful.

I just test drove an Ariya and hooked my phone up through CarPlay. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the low res display compared to virtually every other EV in its class, including the ID.4. It’s like going back to non-retina displays and feels equivalent in size and detail to my 2016 Hyundai Sonata’s CarPlay display.

Everything else about the Ariya was nice… drive, handling, interior, etc. Very happy with it otherwise… I’m just kind of blown away that they used such a low res display in such an otherwise great EV. Definitely seemed out of place.

I agree with you on the handling and performance. I prefer the ID.4 to the Ariya (still more than good enough for me).

I’m in a strange situation… I originally got a 2021 RWD ID.4 on a decent single pay lease deal (dealership messed up the calculation but still honored it). I really wanted to get an AWD, though, but couldn’t find one until the 2023s came out. I then sold my 21 ID.4, which still had a couple thousand of equity in the lease, but decided to buy the 2023 bc lease and financing rates had gone up. I don’t intend to keep this past the 4 year warranty period and will probably start payment shopping for leases like you. I just started about 2.5 years early bc I saw the great 2023 Ariya lease deals available (and also bc my ID.4 has had AC issues).

So I can either get a 2023 Ariya now at under $200/mo for an 18mo lease on a Platinum+ and sell my ID.4. Or keep the ID.4 another 2 years and hope the outgoing 2025 Ariya has similar great lease deals and a higher res display :crossed_fingers:. I already took the lion share of the depreciation hit on the ID.4, so $200/mo leases are probably the highest that would be financially equivalent to depreciation going forward.

(Sorry if I detailed this thread.)

I wouldn’t buy any electric, you’re brave. The depreciation is horrendous, I’m enjoying the no gas bill and free charging

What EV do you have? Is the frre charge the one that came with the Ariya, if that is what you have? Thank you

Totally agree. It was a unique time, obviously, post-pandemic. I rationalize it by telling myself I got at least $15K more for my trade in (sold to Carmax actually) than I would have gotten in a normal environment. And the ID.4 leases were so bad back then… not sure I made out much worse even with the massive depreciation.

Regardless, that depreciation is now like a ā€œsunk cost.ā€ So it’s more about evaluating future depreciation over the next few years vs. the cost of any lease. The Ariya leases are definitely good enough to give myself an out from the ID.4. Total lease cost would be under $3800 for an 18mo lease. I could probably extend that an extra 3 months for $300-$400, depending on how much of the fees I pay upfront. So $4200 or so total cost vs. the projected ID.4 depreciation.

But, yeah, no more buying EVs… since there are far better lease deals available now… Ioniq 5, EV6 and EV9, and the Ariya. Hoping these kinds of deals will repeat for a while on the outgoing model years.

I agree on points with @joeblogs

  • ID4 drives and handles better than Arya.
But with that being said my wife loves how Arya drives and reeeallly don’t like my ID4.

Also I have ID4 Pro - not S and Arya is Engage+ so he has more perks like heated steering wheel and heated seats that I don’t have in ID4. And Arya has heads up display than I don’t have.

I reeeealy don’t like low res Arya display and their stupid arm rest that had no storage. Who thought of that is a major design fail.

Also max charge speed on Arya is 125khw while ID4 is 175. So that does make a different in charging time.

But I’m a payment guy. My ID4 was from Oct 2023 and for 15k miles at $435 pm for 36 month whole Arya is at $235 with ability to buy extra miles during lease at $0.10 per mile which is dirt cheap.

If I want another Arya lease I need to see if it’s cheaper than to buy 20k miles for $2k which is $110pm over 18 months

If I could, I would dump ID4 for Arya for those payments:joy::joy::joy:

Do you all use the ccs charger option all the times on the ariya or mostly J-1772

That’s so funny!! I have the same situation like yours with the exact colors, but different models.

Good to know that I’m not the only one that ended up with three Ariyas because the deals were too good to pass up

We really like our Ariyas and have driven close to 10k miles combined with no issues. I’ve recently added a Kia EV6 GT to my EVs. The EV6 GT is fun, super fast, and sporty, but I prefer the Ariya as a daily driver.

Im almost tempted to get one more after getting the Engage and the Engage plus at $27/month and $47/month respectively. However the insurance on them is what is mako g me thibk twice. How’s your insurance on thise EVs looking like?

I mostly use a CCS fast charger since my 2023 Ariyas came with 1 year of complimentary EVgo charging. Once my year is up, I will primarily use a level 2 charger (J1772) at home.

I actually have 4 Ariyas and recently added a Chevy Blazer EV LT for $250/month $0 DAS.

That sounds like amazing deals, congrats! At those prices, I would be more than tempted.

My insurance is only slightly more for the EV than my comparable ICE vehicle. I always get an insurance quote prior to making a deal since it could be a significant factor.
