Nissan ARIYA Discussion Thread

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the performance of the Dunlop Grandtrek tires. I’ve had them in all kinds of bad conditions, rain, snow, ice… and for an all-season tire they have never lost grip or my confidence. Overall noise is low and comfort is acceptable. If the only downside is poor longevity, it’s a fair trade, no perfect all-season tire exists. On my Tesla(s), I’ve had to keep an extra set of winter tires, which is no longer necessary with the Ariya. They are also not very expensive compared to other EV tires.

Unacceptable is the first word that comes to mind. It’s shocking to think that tires would potentially need replacing annually. I’m new to the EV world, but imagine manufacturers can do better.

I don’t think it’s shocking if you stop and think about it. It’s not like Dunlop Grandtrek tires were originally designed to be run on an EV. The entire industry needs to evolve to different tire compositions to handle the weight and torque of a vehicle with an electric drive train and battery. We are starting to see some of these tires become available, but until EVs achieve better market penetration, it does not make sense for tire manufacturers to produce cost effective EV tires in volume. So instead, we put flawed tires designed for ICE vehicles on our EVs, which often will compromise longevity for range and cost.

Although I’ve had some opportunities this winter, I haven’t tested the Ariya in those conditions as I opted to drive my Ridgeline in bad weather. Good to know the Ariya’s AWD system and tires fared well.

I don’t think that the Dunlop Grandtrek tires were specifically designed to run on EVs but would think we’d be further along in that area since EVs have been around for a while. You make valid points regarding the economics driving the decisions/priorities. Considering the wide selection of ICE tires, I think there are better options if longevity was more important than range savings.

This continues to be good learning experience and what I expected when deciding to give EVs a try. I’m glad I was able to do with a low cost and short term lease. As of now, I see more EVs in my future but will probably still keep an ICE vehicle as well.

I will eventually replace all my commuters with EV and keep our paid off Sienna for family trip.

Just a FYI, after disabling my folding mirrors for 3 weeks, they have stayed in alignment.

Wonder if that can be fixed. If not, can I lemon it and go get one of the 18M deals? lol

No issues with the mirrors for me, but the clock randomly changed to the Pacific time zone setting on two occasions, and my preset radio/SiriusXM stations erased once. Definitely some software gremlins - I guess it’s to be expected as a first year model with a lot of new tech.

It appears this MMR is most likely broken. Last few sales of Evo+ at Manheim have all been over $35K. A bit more reasonable valuation but still below my18mo RV at $36.6K.

Brilliant marketing move by Nissan putting the model name in all caps, guaranteeing that almost no one will get it right (except the OP, here, of course).

I am genuinely surprised how many people get the letters in the right order. I was expecting more variations like Ayiryarai and Areyeieiohyeah.

Maybe no one knows what an aria is, though.

What would happen if (M)ariah (Carey) sang an aria about Aria (Stark) while driving to the Arya in an ARIYA?

… while being tailed by Yanni in a Pagani?

Hi all, just signed a demo Engage lease for $283/month, first month DAS. I prefer one of the higher trims but kinda needed a car so I took the deal. When signing the paperwork, I was told that the car needs to be services every 6 months, is this in the car manual? The lease contract does say something about agreeing to performed scheduled services but wouldn’t that be based on mileage? I’m guessing if I do need to get it serviced every 6 months, I would be responsible for the cost correct?

For those who got free Wallboxes, did you just use the Wallbox/Nissan promo link to order and use the VIN as the promo code? I’m picking up an Ariya either today or tomorrow but the dealer never mentioned anything a free Wallbox. I’m in MA.

Yes, that is correct.
