Need advice leasing Ioniq 9 Calligraphy Performance Trim in California

Hello All, :waving_hand:

I’m looking for any advice, tips/tricks and things to avoid leasing an Ioniq 9 Calligraphy. I’ve never leased a car before and have only bought cars from a dealer a few times.

This particular car is pretty difficult to get these days, especially where I am SF Bay Area. I got a dealer to reserve one and have been waiting for about a month for it to get delivered. Today I got notified that it finally arrived and will be going to check it out tomorrow. Obviously I’m not in much of a position to negotiate but I don’t want to get ripped off either. I’m totally willing to walk if they aren’t going to give me a reasonable deal. I’m prepared to pay full MSRP with no BS extra charges or hidden marked ups.

Is this the kind of deal I can expect? Calc Link

Any tips on what to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is missing thousands of dollars in taxes and fees.

Right, I forgot the Sales Tax. Updated Link

What other fees?

You waited a MONTH, and didn’t work this out with the dealership in advance?

I assume no deposit either? Honestly shocked that they even called you.

The first thing you should do is look at Signed db for the same trim. That will give you some sense of what you should expect to pay.

You should also look @ the dealership website. Are they showing marked up prices there?

You can also get a sense of these from Signed posts.

This will be dealership paperwork things. I think in CA it might be capped at $85.

Government fees would include registration/license (which could be a lot for an EV) and probably a variety of other small fees that you should be able to find on the dmv’s website.

Correct no money down. Honestly I thought about negotiating beforehand but my wife found this dealer and I had several dealers who had been promising me cars that then fell through I figured I’d just wait. Not sure what the best strategy would have been.

Dealer doc, registration, etc.

You’re in CA, so $85 dealer doc and around 1.25% of msrp for gov fees

Contact Autopia Auto Broker - CA & NY/NJ/CT. They’ll get you a great deal on this car. Got my Ioniq 5 through them and so did multiple friends.

OP - what happened when you went to the dealership today?
