I looked under our Model Y, did not see any metal plates, but hard plastic plates. I wonder how much protection the battery packs themselves have.
There’s got to be 100,000 Model Ys on the road every day, I think if this were a significant problem with them, we’d know.
Hopefully just a fluke with the EQS or MB will be forced to do a recall to install better shielding, because I was really looking forward to buying an off lease one for a pack of stale M&Ms once the lease return flood begins.
on Model Y, you can get an aftermarket aluminum skid plate to replace the stock plastic skid plate, to better protect the coolant lines.
Years ago Teslas were catching fire because of skid plate issues/lack of protection for the battery. They fixed that apparently with the current plastic cover, maybe the Benz plastic is just too thin/weak?
I also have a 115k msrp eqs 450 suv boat anchor with 80 miles on odometer. Vehicle will not start and inoperable for a week. Currently waiting for ”special” tow truck
and that’s not even mentioning the wheels….
sorry about your troubles.
If the dealer had any motivation to attempt to push it through as a warranty claim (and others followed suit) you might see them actually do something with it like some added shielding.
No worries. At least the process of requesting a tow via the mercedes me app was seamless. And they offered a code for a free uber ride to work.
See what Tesla started with this Uber in lieu of loaner business?
In a mailer I got last week…
And even when I’ve made an appointment as a “waiter,” the dealer I use in Ohio also offers to send me home in a Lyft if I’d prefer.
Local Honda dealer offers free pick up/drop off plus Uber rides
Imagine that!
Service at a BMW dealer actually includes service by BMW technicians with original BMW parts?
W140 S-Class would like a word.
The car’s out of warranty.
They’re competing for service dollars with the independent mechanic I use.
W140 is nowhere near the “could last forever” philosophy of the W124 and earlier cars.
As long as parts are made for it.
I hear you, but it is nonetheless awesome that a BMW dealer actually advertises the use of BMW technicians and parts.
Where is the odometer in this picture? I must have spent 3 minutes and still don’t see it
Yeah god knows where the odonmeter is. But the car was driven twice. Once from dealer and then on next trip it died. So less than 100 miles.
