Sedan…but I think they ride on the same skate.

Availability can come into play too. I’ve seen examples of much more reasonable repair costs that ended up totaling the vehicle out because they were in short supply.

Having been a former tesla junky they weren’t always armoured. There was an incident where a scrap punctured the existing shield and tesla now installs I think a titanium plate.

This was like circa 2014, so some 2014 and onwards have the shield. 2013s and most 2014s usually don’t iirc

Back in their earlier days, There was multiple instances of Teslas on fire because the underbody was punctured

Let’s be honest here, what did the wife run over

Small little bump on the shopping mall, perhaps?

Less clearance though

As Bill on YouTube’s “Curious Cars” says, “…they don’t build Mercedes like they used to.” Mercedes used to be overengineered tanks.

The W124 was the last one and that was designed in the early to mid 1980s

Seems like 80’s to early 90’s were MB best time.

That is pretty wild.

I believe W140 was the last over engineered S class.

To a fault just about…

Hardly had to write service on them. The generation after, the Chrysler years……whole different animal.

Have you ever found out what that debris was? Looks like a sharp metal object in those pix.

Was this filed through car insurance and not warranty?

Warranty generally won’t cover road debris.
