Minivan deals - rarely see them

new user here, but a frequent viewer…

in looking through many of the threads, rarely do I see deals made or suggested. is it just more rare to get a very good deal on minivans, or is it just that much of a rare of vehicle option (which is what I’m thinking)

with a growing fam, I’m currently considering the minivan route mainly due to the convenience it offers - had large SUVs and with renting minivans, and driving around friend/families with 2 or more kids strapped in the back, it is just so much more convenient for that lifestyle to me.

thoughts?

Odyssey’s do not lease well. At one point, the Sienna leased well, but not sure that’s still the case now. There have been several Pacifica threads and some people got good deals. For the Pacifica, it probably depends on which bank you go with.

I’d guess two factors at play. First I surmise that this forum has far more male than female members and woman are much more likely to buy minivans than men.

Two, minivans are a niche product with relatively small sales numbers and even smaller sales numbers when you remove fleet sales.

That said, go for it. By almost every objective measure minivans are more practical and better than three row cross overs. The falling sales are due to societal norms and preferences rather than any objective issues. I would not be surprised if the Pacifica leased well.

Minivans sell many times more than electric cars. In my neighborhood every fourth house has one.

I would just buy a Toyota Honda. Minivan willl be a workhorse, you are not going to upgrade it for a while as nothing is better once you are used to it. You are going to run it into the ground for 10 years, then some poor folks will buy it and run it for another 5 until it is gone completely. Cycle of a Honda or Toyota van

I think you can lease a pacific hybrid for $400 a month in south ca

the buy option has always crossed my mind, however the piece of mind in just ensuring reliability is covered while I’m away with the wife/family is one of my most main concerns with a leased vehicle. then there’s the tech updates every few years, and who knows what the kids will destroy in the 2-3yrs where just having a new one coming in seems logical lol

my sis has the new Pacifica Limited, and is an amazing vehicle. I’m not too much a van of the Odyssey based on my parents experience in going through tranny’s every 6months on previous models - they had some really sh!tty transmissions on most the Honda/Acura v6 models unfortunately. Sienna’s are very nice too…that swagger wagon commercial when this latest generation model came out was the best!

That is like saying I see hardly any F-150s in my area so they must not be very popular. But i live in a close suburb of Washington DC and I know that the F-150 is the best selling vehicle in America. Truth is, no minivan is close to top 20 vehicles.

My cousin leased a 36/12 Kia minivan last year, $1000 due at signing $240 tax included. Base model of course. But if you are planning to work on some and are on a budget, you might want to look into Kia.

yea don’t buy a car if there are reasonable options available as @mani_is_kool pointed out.

Electrics are a niche product too. I’d still agree Minivans have fallen into niche category over the last 20 years in favor of CUVs.

agreed…

you’re in SouthFL? you’ll know all too well about the almost monthly disney trips, if so lol

was looking for some local threads on deals, most are in Cali or the NE though. if I could snatch that QX60 for $350-375 in the time being like the NE has going on, wouldn’t mind that either

lol i sure do, however that’s a 500-600 mi roundtrip every time you go. Not sure how much you’d be driving that car outside of disney trips but you gotta keep milage in mind when thinking about leasing.

Lol, what a claim, any vehicle not in the top 20 is a niche product. You’ll have to claim that large SUVs are a niche product also since minivan’s outsell them.

ohh yea, of course on the miles.

i work from home outside of the client visits, and the wife is home as well - so outside of the mini trips to Orlando, the vehicle is mostly parked. we have other daily run around cars too, to abuse the miles with

I mean, I don’t know if “niche” is the right word but the overall sales of minivans is very small in comparison to the other segments.

yes, and every SUV segment is smaller except midsize SUV.

@DanCar @DRodes

Can you two Dans find some place else to have this riveting discussion?

Talk about Hijacking ! lol

minivans … always a touchy subject!

I will be helping someone this month by mid or the end for the Kia one. I will keep forum posted.
