Mercedes Benz EQS Lease Superthread - 2

They extend the first couple of months without asking too many questions. Beyond that you need to provide the name of and contact of the sales person you are working with at dealership to find your new MB. After 4 months you need to have an order number to provide MBFS.

So find a friendly , “flexible” sales person at your fav MB dealership.

Specific to CA:

An other thing to keep in mind is registration, in CA you will have to pay for the entire next year, that’s around $1K on a EQS, so you would want to stretch the extension out as much as possible.

Deposits on ordered cars in California are generally refundable if the customer cancels before signing a final purchase agreement and taking delivery.

Wow this is so helpful! I’m in VA so registration isn’t the worst… I’d love to keep this car long as possible.. I will reach out to my sales guy and let’s see how he can help…

The fact that there is essentially 0 inventory in the mercedes EV line up should help make the case to MBFS.

These are some of the up upcoming MB EVs:

  • CLA EV is starting to show up in dealerships but in very low numbers 1 or 2 per dealer, it will be a few months they have larger numbers also the CLA is not really a replacement for the EQS.

  • GLC SUV: Set to arrive in the second half of 2026.

  • EQS Sedan 2027 (updated) expected in late 2026.

  • Baby G SUV first half of 2027.

  • 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV: Likely to begin U.S. sales in 2027.

This is what a “friend” of mine recommend saying to MBFS: I would like to stick with Mercedes and love driving the EV, given that EQS and EQE are discontinued and the upcoming EV models are a few months away, I am closely working my local dealership to find the right MB EV, so I would like to extend my current lease until I am able to secure a new MB.

2 addtional things I remembered:

You will lose access to the EA free charging at the end of your original lease.

MBFS will increase the lease mileage allowance a prorated amount for every additional month you extend.

Isn’t 24 months from your activation date regardless of the maturity date? I wasn’t able to activate until almost a year later using the the account from the first lemoned car.

Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on how I can get out of my situation with the least amount of pain! I leased an EQS450 4 Matic 10/31/24 for 24 months. Just learned I have to relocate from Central California to Chicago suburbs end of May. If I turn in the car early, I’ll have to eat the remaining 5 payments of $541 = $2,705. I got a shipping quote for $1,900. When I picked up this one it was off a 5 month pull ahead on my 2023 EQS. Best case I suppose would be another pull ahead, turning in car in CA and taking new delivery in IL. Seems like a stretch to get that to work with different dealers. I don’t love the thought of flying back to drive it myself, it’s a lot to deal with on top of a cross county move.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions if there’s something I’m not thinking of.

Maybe dealer chain with presence in CA and IL

You can Turn in at any dealer in the country - the dealer where you pick up new car has to do something on his end

Maybe this:

  1. Line up a new lease in IL with the understanding that you want to do a pull-ahead to be grounded in CA.
  2. Ask your current dealer to help you ground your lease early for a pull-ahead.
  3. Coordinate between the two dealers to have them complete the Loyalty Accelerator Program (LAP) Certificate that has to be submitted for the pull ahead.
  4. Subject to MBFS and their approvals of course.

I’ve been working on a pull ahead recently and a dealer did say that I can ground the lease at a different dealer.

Good luck.

Yes, correct.

I was working with the assumptions that most activated their EA free charging at the start of the lease, and that most leases are 24mo.

IIRC in most cases pull ahead covers only 3 payments.

As @volvonissan2019 suggested: Murgado owns Foothill Ranch and Laguna Niguel MBZ and they have presence in IL. I can also put you in touch with my contact at FJ Newport Beach who used to work for Murgado in IL and probably has contacts there.

Thanks, wasnt sure there was a pull ahead but I found the LAP 3 month program. That helps

Thanks, Murgado has Mercedes of Barrington, IL which would work to take delivery on that end. The CA stores are quite far from where I live however. Wouldn’t hurt to reach out to your contact though if you’d DM me that would be great.

Good luck getting dealers to work with each other

I really just need to find a dealer in IL that will get me the 3 month pull ahead, right? Any dealer in CA will have to ground my current lease if MBFS says so is my understanding.

Yes but you need to make sure they ground it as LAP. I had similar issue but dealer didn’t ground it properly or didn’t know wtf I was talking about. I just kept the car instead.

You buying dealer finance SHOULD call your grounding dealer finance to work hand in hand

folks are there any decent EV deals for a car of a similar caliber?

ofc $120K car for $520 monthly like I have now is VERY unlikely to resurface soon. But so far I saw semi-decent broker offers for Macan EV, CPO Taycan in $800 area in SoCal. Anything else good out there that is comparable? Still have 5 months on the lease left but wonder if I should just buy now.

I recently returned my EQS . when i called MBFS and said i wanted to keep the EV this is what they told “ max they can extend for a month and beyond that you would require a new MB vehicle lease or purchase order from the dealership until it is shipped or delivered you can have it , Else return it .

Any other Android Auto and/or possibly Car Play users no longer seeing phone functions (recent calls, ongoing call, etc) in HUD only while AA is open on the main screen? Everything shows up fine on HUD with MBUX on the main screen. My local shop foreman tried to connect his Apple phone and could not get it to work with my car at all making me even less open to deleting my phone to experiment. Last time I did it, I had to buy a new phone as it would not reconnect with the first EQS while having zero issues on any other cars including a loaner EQS.

Similarly, with AA on the navigation directions on HUD are a hit or miss. Both problems are fairly new, guessing caused by some update to either AA, MBUX or how they interact.
