Actually sorry no I didn’t read that wrong. So they will still find that your car was a loaner. The dealer has a right to activate the mercedes me connect since it is in their possession during that time period. They will probably use for the charging or to track their vehicle. It is normal, since you still technically leased a used car not a new one.
MB-USA is picking really weird hills to die on… 6 months of a subscription that has almost zero variable cost should be a no brainer extension of goodwill.
It’s not like the guy is asking for more pillows.
LOL, they’ve been quite interesting to watch lately correct.
What’s the big deal with the Mercedes Me App? Just to open/close doors? It doesn’t really do much.
So what’s the total cost for a year of Mercedes Me Connect, map updates etc that you get for free in the first year? Tesla charged $10 per month for their services after the first year.
Use of the Tesla app to operate car functions remotely does not require premium connectivity. And, Tesla premium connectivity includes music streaming services, which many can use to cancel paying for more expensive services like Sirius.
Warns you if doors are unlocked. I use it for pre-ventilation. I cool or warm the car to my liking a few mins before hopping in
I know what it does but honestly that pre ventilation doesn’t do much.
Mine ran out as well but the pre-ventilation still works from the app. I can’t lock or unlock the doors any longer though.
I’ve had a service loaner EQS without me connect activated. Other than remote control via app, most annoying missing feature was absence of charge % at destination.
Chevy charged for this connectivity feature, and so I never used it. It is a nice touch on the Mercedes, but something I will try to live without once the free trial is complete. All the OE’s appear to be going to this model so you are stuck paying them for additional features for life. Kinda sucks, but #Capitalism…
You can tell the product planners they hired on the mobile side didn’t really have a good strategy with the app.
It’s just a hodgepodge of weird features that kind of get slapped in there. I want to say it’s worth some money per year because the app needs to use the cloud and it seems the vehicles are always connected as well to some cloud service. So it’s not “free” per se like some bluetooth or wifi thing.
It’s also interesting that the ICE MB’s have a completely different UI/UX on the app than EVs. You can’t even see two cars side by side (like you can’t swipe between cars). You have to go into the main menu and set an “active” car first then you can access options.
Anyway here’s my take on what you may want to use (I can’t tell which are free/paid).
Really useful stuff on EV:
Pre entry climate control - this is the only way to keep the car’s HVAC running if you are parked. I have to do this constantly since I’m often dropping people off or waiting to pick them up. It’s beyond stupid that the driver of the car needs to take out their phone to keep their HVAC running while waiting.
Charging Configuration - no brainer… but it’s easier to set charging stuff and departure time conditioning on the app than clicking the EQ button in the car’s infotainment
Really useful stuff on both EV and ICE:
Unlocked / Issue Notification - I get a ping on my apple watch if I leave the car unlocked or if I leave a window down. But what’s stupid is you cannot set your home address to be exempt from this. So if you don’t lock the car in your garage, you still get a notification. Lame.
Scheduling Service - If you ask @Justlooking , you’ll definitely need service if you get a EQS
Collision Detection - If the car is locked and something bumps it, you get a cool alert on your phone. The GLS showed me images of the 360 camera, but I haven’t actually tried this out on the EQS.
That’s it I think. All the other stuff is kind of cool but totally unnecessary. And definitely not worth paying money for. ICE doesn’t get the preconditioning - but it does get a remote start function. But the remote start function almost never works. The app just keeps saying it’s trying to send the remote start signal but the damn car never starts up to pre-cool the cabin.
They really need to update that. I don’t need that alert at home. I also wish the car would just turn on like a Tesla instead of having to push on the start. And finally, fix the brakes.
Not surprised to see this from MB.
When all manufacturers are making Adaptive cruise control a basic safety feature that comes with base models of even non-luxury manufacturers (Honda, Hyundai and Toyota ), MB has a base EQE without adaptive cruise control (Their distronic equivalent).
Eagerly waiting for this.
Absolutely wait for December.
Depends on how you look at it, if you park in your driveway you would for sure want a notification you have left your 100k merc unlocked. But why not put in a feature request to turn that off on GPS notification? I’m sure it didn’t occur to them.
They just dropped the used red AMG EQS to $86k… but they can’t fix the listing color hah.
sus.
Just a screw up, here’s the real McCoy at $129K
