I get at least 340 miles of real world range on the EQS SUV 450 4Matic. Mostly highway driving (90%+). Range is top notch.
Side note: I tested the “acceleration boost” option. It does change the driving dynamics of the car quite a bit. Definitely more responsive, better driving feel. It felt close in acceleration to the IX numbers.
IMO, 24 month programs are/were the best for these as that’s the length of the free maintenance and charging. 13 is too short (especially in CA with registration fees).
Do you have a link to the source? I find it surprising, the EQS feels significantly quieter than any other EV I’ve driven, including the Ioniq 5. It has its many quirks, but it has a very quiet cabin (specifically the SUV; note: I do have the acoustic comfort package on mine, and another I test drove had the same, so I don’t know how it is without that package).
13 months doesn’t allow for one pay or MSD, thereby raising the money factor and about a $100/monthly payment difference to drive 24 months over 13 months. Having to ship the car costs $1,000. Really trying to crunch numbers here.
36 month programs have a steep RF drop and therefore the highest payment.
No point looking at only the MF. 13 months might have higher rent charges, but the rebates have a higher monthly payment savings if spread over only 13 months. You should be looking at the effective monthly payments when comparing the programs.
13 month does allow for onr pay, just no mf reduction.
Every time i have ran the numbers on these, albeit havent done so with our specific situation, the effective monthly for 24 months has always been the worst of the three terms by a lot. If your specific deal comes out differently, then go by that, but that hasn’t been the case in my experience. I havent put together calculators for your deal to compare.
I’ve had an Ioniq 5 and have been on the Facebook groups and forums and not once has anybody ever even mentioned an EQS as a comparison. I’m very confused why it keeps getting mentioned in this thread.
I originally thought the C-Class would dilute the MB brand image in the US, but since then we’ve seen variants of A and B cars also, and the top end of the line still has a sterling reputation because they’re really good cars.
The threat of the EQS, even if it wasn’t selling so cheaply, is diluting the image of the S Class, a model line which is still an aspirational-level vehicle for most people.
But I’ve never ended a test drive so confused about what I was driving as when I tried out the EQS sedan.
I just got out of the car and thought, “Huh, ok,” and to this day I can’t think of a single thing I liked about the car. I really don’t want one at any price.
There truly is no S in EQS; IMO they could have named it more carefully, which would have set better expectations, because it’s not a flagship-caliber vehicle in any way. It isn’t something you step up to.
It’s all relative. For people coming out of most 2022 and earlier EVs it is a step up.
And companies dilute their brands in all sorts of ways. People thought about the W201 190E. Anyone remember the POS that was the C230K coupe from the early 2000s? They changed the Gelandewagen from a literal NATO military vehicle to a cringe prop for the MTV Cribs generation. Nothing is safe, not even the S-class you put on a pedestal. If the W220 didn’t destroy the image of the S-class IDK what can or will.
Well… you can step up to it from a moped… or a city bus, or a dromedary.
Point is they’ve dumbed down the definition of “flagship” with this car.
It’s a wallowy, homely turd, and I’m not commenting on that as a prolific poster on Hyundai Hooligans (or whatever Hyundai forums are out there).
I’m squarely in the S Class target market, and I would argue that I currently have two of its dramatically more worthy $100k-ish counter-arguments (750i and e-tron GT, depending on which itch one wants to scratch).
The EQS isn’t a worthwhile alternative to either one. It’s just… there.
You guys are tough. While the jelly bean exterior isn’t killing it, they designed it specifically to be efficient (https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/mercedes-eqs-most-aerodynamic-series-production-car-ever). The interior is plush and luxurious. I’ve been in plenty of audis and bmws. i think the eqs interior is top-notch. One could argue the G wagon is temperamental box not worth the price, yet no one really on them. I feel like since people were able to get deals on them some people feel they aren’t that nice. Pay a lot then its awesome, get a deal and its just ok.
You’ll find that the average uncoiled dog turd would emerge from wind tunnel testing with a respectable drag coefficient.
I found the interior overly stylized and techo-tacky, and the screens look like a lot of fun until you start stabbing around trying to accomplish even the tiniest of tasks.
