Are dealer’s giving any discounts on the g. Wagon EV?
Any idea on how they will hold up value wise compared to the original ice g wagon?
It was wild to me, initially how the dealers thought the EV would be just as in demand as the original g wagon, and how they didn’t want to give any discounts. I’m hoping that line of thinking has changed.
Put me down as well. I haven’t pursued one yet, but I’d lease one if they start to offer real deals. My wife had one, an ice 550, crazy optioned truck at 190k, hated it and traded back to her beloved RR after 6mo.
Nah, there’s still 2k G580 units on the floor or “sales banked” in the USA. That’s a disaster level of inventory. Probably approaching 365 days supply.
Not as bad as EQS in 2023, but for a vehicle that is normally a 30 days or less on inventory turn, Benz will need to do something aggressive.
They are starting to sell wholesale. 5 sales in the past 45 days and only 2 active listings left. All sales have been below MSRP, by maybe $10K to $20K. In the case of the EQS, when they started selling wholesale the drop-off from MSRP was much larger. It’s just a possible forward indication of what the right market price maybe.
I kinda agree with this. Feel like blowing them out to consumers is going to negatively impact the market value of the 550 and 63, which is definitely a kink in the G Wagen chain MB does not want.
Sure but those low mile CPO ones on the used car lots of MB dealers that also have brand new ones - those cars might be worth more to either smaller MB dealers (who can sell as cpo) or higher end euro used car lots that are thirsty for these. I think it’s about getting the most for your distressed inventory, optics be damned.
From the Mannheim data @z0lt3c shared it also looks like black ones are setting the floor, so if you’re targeting a new one that is black - push that discount.
I think it’s going to be a “blow out” via loyalty and lease incentives/lower MF/higher RV. The Germans don’t tend to lower MSRP compared to the domestics. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these cars in the $700-$800 range eventually. That way buyers get to pay full price so that that market for ICE G wagons aren’t disrupted as much.
I heard from MB rep who works in the ATL saying G580 is going to get maybach incentives by end of the year in terms of loyalty and crap. It might just happen especially if Tampa has bunch of loaners.
Thank you for this. I’m currently shopping for a good lease deal with Mercedes and I went to North Olmsted. I’m getting impatient but I want best deals.
