You’re doing great. I don’t like the ones that post just numbers without calculator link or % discount.
IMO the lack of consistency makes LH way less useful than it could be. At this point I only check the threads by 2-3 dealers/brokers and just ignore the rest. So that’s hardly a good selection in a marketplace.
Apologies if this has already been said but I don’t think it’s difficult at all. Set a requirement that all advertised deals are 0 DAS, 12k/yr and max effective MSDs (if applicable)with a link to the calculator for individual modification. That way it’s easily seen who has deals and who doesn’t.
Yeah, I really think putting all deals in the same criteria is the way to go. Apples to apples then.
I do not see anything wrong with that deal. All the info is clearly laid out. Folks can choose to structure their deal whichever way they want. What matters is the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the course of a lease.
Customers who want $0 DAS is rare. I’d say $1000-$2000 is done most of the time
Also 10k miles is the most common. Advertising 7500 miles is too low for most people’s needs. If someone wants to know 12k miles just add 1% of MSRP to total lease cost
I find this very surprising
Completely agree. This has always been the standard (and continues to be outside of LH from what I’ve observed), but we’ve seen it shift to 7,500 here on the forum over the last 2 years as some brokers and sales folks have tried to soften how horrific the numbers look.
I’m not saying there’s something wrong with the deal, I’m saying a $170 pm payment shouldn’t be advertised in the title to make you click through to find that “inceptions are DAS” and then click AGAIN to get to the calculator to realize that $170 pm is really $360 pm with the huge DAS. This clickbaiting is something I’d expect from a dealer and not a broker on a website dedicated to transparency in car purchases.
Also, not too long ago people here would trash “deals” at MSRP on a newly launched car saying “not worth it”, “move on to cheaper alternatives”, etc.
Now we have brokers charging $2k over MSRP on non-lux brands with $700+ broker fees, and people justify it with “free market”. Free market was always there, we just never encouraged paying stupid prices.
People come here to hack leases, when they see $2k over asking on a average brand, they’re not getting a crazy deal
I remember mods requiring DAS to go with monthly payment on ads. Not sure what changed
We tried that years ago. It was not well received.
It became harder to enforce because of the quantity of marketplace posts. Imagine 50 brokers posting 100 different threads for individual vehicles, and then repeatedly bumping them — it was a horrible experience for visitors to the marketplace. Once the number of new marketplace posts got out of control, we moved away from individual vehicle threads to brand-specific broker threads.
That said, individual vehicles posted to marketplace/private transfers should have monthly and DAS in title, but it’s become harder because of private sales (not just lease transfers) hitting the forum. I personally haven’t kept a close eye on things lately to help enforce.
I get it that some brokers aim to advertise the lowest monthly payment, but I am not a big fan when the deal includes a loyalty incentive for a certain brand.
Agreed, brand specific threads are much better. But if monthly is posted on the thread title, it should have DAS amount also listed like in the example above
Calculator link to this site’s calculator should be a must I think. Too often either lease cost is completely missing and users have to submit personal info just to get a quote from a broker, or lease details are too generic to know how it would change for a specific buyer unless a outside form is filled out. Sometimes just feels like it’s fishing for user data
On the positive side - I can get through this clicking in less than 5 min rather than 2 hours pulling teeth at the dealershit
Not well received by who? The brokers/dealers or user community?
I get different discounts based on color, age, bank we use etc. I’ll never post calculators bc it’s not in my customers best interest. There’s just too many variables with Toyota.
Not to mention I use like 20 dealers all with different discounts depending on region etc. it’s not always black and white. But end of day I’m trying to make a sale so better believe my first offer will be my best…
Yet you’re able to provide the monthly with just 1st month DAS with tax tags included.
Not sure why all the brokers can’t do that.
If a calculator is provided for you, you may adjust this yourself. If you need assistance figuring out what your TTL will be, feel free to reach out for guidance and or a formal quote.
