Toss in a Yorkie, though, and you’ll be Suburban shopping…
Have only 1 kid but we are getting a 3 row suv. It’s USA, bigger the better in case you need the space. Not much difference mpg wise anyways.
High roof Transit or go home.
When are you expecting kid #2?
An EQS or Lucid is great for 1 kid or even 2. Go sit in one. There’s more space in the rear than almost all SUV 2nd or 3rd rows. My evolve 360 car seat fits behind my driving position even with easy entry pushing the seat all the way back
The lucid particularly has a huge wide easy to access power frunk with an upper deck that is perfect for diaper changes and you can store supplies below it. The trunk is also ultra wide. I fit my uppababy Cruz in the back section so the whole front end and lower deck area is still fully accessible It’s pretty fantastic.
I have a Rivian as well, and I think the Lucid’s usability and space for 1 kid is more. If you plan to carry 5 people regularly then sure, I think that’s the only use case for a 7 seater
We have an eqs suv and eqe sedan now. Both are sufficiently big, however, 3 row suvs come with captains chair that can recline a lot more, something 2 row cars don’t have (other than maybe maybachs and gv80). Also the extra storage space helps for road trips and furniture runs.
As I tell my wife. Half the time I don’t even want my kids in my cars, why would I want a bigger car for your mom or our neighbors kids?
It’s for my wife to sit with the kid.
There is a $2000 conquest credit but now they changed it to only apply on purchases.
They also now include $1000 of charging equipment as well.
There is a referral credit of $750-1250 depending on which trim you choose, here is my referral link if anyone would like to use it:
There’s three RWS options on the EQE, 10, 4.5, and 3.6. The EQE350 and 500 come with 10 degrees if it has 19 or 20 inch wheels, 4.5 if it has 21s, while the AMG comes with 3.6. The reason is due to rear tire width. The 21s get 30mm wider rear tires that are too wide for the 10 degree rear steer, and the extra 10mm the AMG has limit it further. The EQS450/580 Sedan has 10 degree always except for some very early production cars with 4.5, but the AMG only has 9 degree, again due to 10mm wider tires. Same with the EQE SUV, always 10 but the AMG, which has 9. And on the EQS SUV, there’s no performance verision with wider tires so it always has 10.
Lucid Air Referral Bonus has doubled through the end of March. If anyone is in the market, it’s a pretty good lease deal going on right now. Additional $1500-$2500 lower than the price you see on the website.
Feel free to use mine if you’re in the market:
Will they triple it if I tell them that I was referred by Henrik F**ker?
Lucid looks nice, but hard to beat deals on EQS. Currently seeing 500/month for EQS 580 with 3500 down for 24/7.4.
Main issue with lucid for me is their basic autopilot equivalent is a 5k add on
Yup fair. I think EQS seems to consistently stay ~200 lower per month than the Lucid. The thing that sold me on it was the 18 month lease. I know these EVs have no equity so you’re going to be stuck with it for the duration.
To your other point, it does have adaptive cruise, no lane keep but it’s such a fun car to drive yourself! It’s a lot more fun to corner and accelerate in compared to my old model 3 which I would just throw on autopilot whenever I had the opportunity.
Totally fair. I also love taking the wheel on carving fun roads.
But my commute is 20 miles of straight highway. Adaptive cruise with lane centering is a key feature for making that more enjoyable.
Honestly if I want a road carving family sedan I would just get a used panamera hybrid.
Depends how much depreciation you want to eat, but that would be a good car too. Similar too. They won’t have anything resembling autopilot either. And over 18 months, you may lose more on the panamera than the lucid lease (at least in CA where you have to eat all the sales tax on purchases)
I got an EQS and wish I did Lucid. I’m familiar with the MB family so the EQS was just like another Mercedes car/interior. The lucid meanwhile is like a next gen new toy, it made me feel “wow.”
Ultimately wish I paid up for Lucid’s premium, but they’re both great cars. Mercedes is more luxury of a ride, but Lucid drives a lot better.
It’s just the “grass is greener” effect. If you got the Lucid, something else would have caught your eye
Yeah, I think the Luxury EV sedans are all pretty good, enough variety to suit tastes and also across each budget.
Fortunately, I don’t think anyone who gets a Lucid Air, MB EQS, or BMW i7 ever lament that they’d rather be in a Model S.
looking at the net pricing with incentives, it seems Mercedes needs to win customers with the lowest price.
