Still over $1,000 payment with tax tact in.
Yeah but if he was ok with $1,118 on a Lucid Touring (before their $1,000 order fee, taxes, and registration) I think he’s still good.
There’s a $1000 referral discount as well. So I guess we can cancel out the order fee with that haha.
But in all seriousness, AMG EQE does sound like a good option, thanks for the suggestion! but what would you say are the pros of the EQE over lucid? They are about the same size but I think lucid has more interior room and larger trunk/frunk(closer to EQS). Let’s call power the same even though lucid is faster above 60, but who’s going to use that frequently lol. And lease is about the same too. Is the interior quality at the same level between EQE and EQS?
The EQS has the hyperscreen as a USP. Other than that, I think the interior of an EQE is functionally (the tech) the same as an EQS. Although I think the EQS has puffy headrests and those swank rear seat pillows. I kid of wish I was joking. Aside from the razzle dazzle of the hyperscreen, I really don’t think there’s anything substantial the EQS offers over the EQE other than the physical leg-room/shoulder-room.
I think this is why MB finally wised up and made the hyperscreen standard equipment on all 2024 model year EQS. But for 2023, the EQS 450 interior I have looks the same as an EQE (no hyperscreen and I got rid of the puffy headrest pillows).
I don’t know about your neck of the woods but I’m seeing a lot of Lucid test drives being advertised. And you can just head over to MB Walnut Creek and look at some EQE/EQS?
I’m still on team i7.
The i7 has a lot of features i don’t need. i just need a big rear seat area for car seats and backpacks and occassionally grandparents. Don’t need 8k tvs or reclining seats or ipads on the doors, my baby’s not going to use that while they are in rear facing car seat
Oh dang, you may want to actually test the EQE and EQS with the rear facing seat then.
I have two toddler seats in the back of my EQS (one rear facing on the port side and one and one facing forward on the starboard side).
The rear facing one just barely fits when the EQS does its “easy enter/exit” mode where it slides the driver seat all the way back. If you plan on doing a rear facing on the port side, and you have one of the more beefy toddler seats, I highly suggest you lug the thing in for a test drive.
Actually, you may just want to bite the bullet and get an SUV like a GLE 450e or something hah. The EQS is fine for like short trips, but the lack of rear seat sun shades and overall lack of room sucks with modern car seats in the rear. I’ve smacked my 12 month old into the headliner a couple times trying to drop them into this seat lol.
Here’s the pic of my white rear facing safety seat basically maxing out the rear seat space in an EQS. I think EQE could be too short. Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 are definitely too short for these contemporary rear-facing uber-safe toddler seats.
yea exactly…that’s why i got rid of m340 recently. You have to push the front seat up way too much. i4 and model 3 is out of the question. i5 is out of the question, model S is ALSO out the question. Lucid rear seat is big enough, but thanks for the input. I will try to go look at an EQS and EQE at a local dealer to see how the rear space is. I can’t imagine EQS being a problem…i assumed the rear legroom should be gigantic!
The rear legroom of an EQS is definitely good - but it’s not quite S-Class good.
Also the primary issue for your kids is the rear sloping roofline . I guarantee at least once you’re going to have an unhappy kid when you whack their head trying to get them into a car seat back there.
What’s your other family hauler?
Why not switch these around?
The kid that faces forward likes to kick the seat in front of them…
A rivian lol. That also uses up all the space behind the driver seat, but at least there is a ton of room for everything else. Anyway that’s my wife’s daily, but I like lower more sporty sedans…unfortunately most normal sport sedans are too small. I’m going to go check the EQE AMG today and see if the car seat fits and if the trunk is decent enough sized.
Remove his shoes after buckling
If you’re just taking kids on short trips, I think the AMG EQE Sedan is your next car hah (assuming your brand of toddler car seat fits).
FYI, the brand of rear seat I got is by Clek. Rear facing it’s pretty secure. But when forward facing these things have rigid Latch/ISOFIX points, so there is zero rattle at all since they absolutely cannot slide. Since you’re gonna be pulling max G’s in your AMG you may want to consider these hah.
Maybe if their legs could detach hah. Kids can still kick without shoes man.
They sure do love to kick don’t they? Anyone who had the gloss finish seatbacks on an MX knows this tale too well.
My daughter, when she was 3 or 4, had her feet on the back of my seat, I said get your feet off the back of my seat, she said my feet aren’t on the seat, my shoes are. I said well your feet are in your shoes, she said no my feet are in my socks. I gave up, she won.
They stop when they realize it hurts their little toes
Dang man… some MF’er pulled up next to me in a Selenite Grey Magno EQS AMG. Those AMG rims are so much cooler than these normal EQS multi-spokes.
I hope the EQE you get has the baller AMG rims haha.
Sigh…so…I drove the AMG EQE yesterday…unfortunately i wasn’t that impressed. The standard interior leather feels really rough and cheap, and i think once you move up to the nicer interiors most of the in stock units are +$10k with a bunch of other stuff pushing it to over $1000/month. And it didn’t feel that fast on the freeway, it drops power really fast above 60 it seems. It had 50% SOC, maybe that had something to do with it? Trunk was kinda small as well.
The lucid Air touring felt like a monster in comparison and pulls immensely fast up to 100. Interior is much nicer too, more open, more light, real nappa leather standard, huge frunk that can swallow up a stroller itself. Auto rear shades for the windows that you can pop up if the sun is hitting baby’s face.
I didn’t drive one, but i looked at an EQS580 and THAT felt more comparable quality wise to the Lucid interior, space wise. The hatch rear makes a big difference in storage capacity. But I know i’m going to get bored of the boat-like handling very quickly, i won’t last 36 months…and to boot it’s even slower than the EQE. This thread was super valuable. Thank you @holeydonut for all the valuable advice, but looks like for what i’m looking for, i’m stuck spending more money on the lucid haha. It just feels worth the little extra to me.
If you have car seats you need a three row full-size SUV, must be an Escalade or Suburban, those are the only options.
