I am in new Hampshire and looking for a 3/4 ton truck deal. My preference would be F250 but am open to any of the others.
So far it seems that there really are not any deals on trucks over 1/2 ton. Any Suggestions?
3/4s are a bit niche so there might not be a deal, Costco has a Chevy 1/2ton but not 3/4.
It’s rare to see 3/4 or 1 Ton trucks on here for two reasons is that not nearly as many people need them and lessors / captives know that if you do get one, your more likely to use it for heavy duty applications than tge person getting an F150 and going to the hunting camp.
Which brings me to my next point as I did a quick search on the Super Supporter calculator and an F250 Lariat has a 49% RV and a mf that equated to over 8% interest. It’s very unlikely to overcome those two variables with the other parts of the equation of dealer discount and incentives.
In fairness it’s rare to even see F150’s on here b/c Ford has decided to turn the levers just enough to make purchases the more financially prudent option. The F150 in the same trim has a 64% RV and like half the money factor and it still doesn’t lease well.
Hope that gives a little perspective on what you may be up against!
That’s the most polite way to tell someone to buy a gently used personal titled F250 instead of leasing that I’ve ever heard.
They put nitrogen in the tires!
that was very helpful and thoroughly explained. thank you for taking time to do that.
@Sadler850 - Make sure that whatever you do you test drive a Ford, Ram and GMC/Chevrolet. It is very surprising when you do this how they all ride very differently and how the manufacturers execute on all different aspects.
We have a Ram 1 ton Limited with the HO Aisin (SRW) and it blew the other two away all around as to ride, functionality, towing, and literally everything else. I have owned various 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton versions of the others as well. While I’m not a huge Stellantis fan, they execute very well on the Ram trucks.
What’re your thoughts about this brass hat?
Looks like regional auto show circuit corporate use.
Pretty none of the HD trucks have good leases - except Ram and they kinda ride better than f-series SD
Literally the same exact truck as ours but a long bed, but this doesn’t have automatic folding bed steps and has that cheesy three fold bed cover. We put a ReTrax on the bed and it is way better.
Agreed that it looks like a demo, but they don’t normally have long beds at the shows because of space. Whatever the case may be it looks like it was lightly used and probably would make for a killer deal.
@Sadler850 ‘s new truck is looking pretty cool once he haggles some discount
Duramax alll the way. Cummins is good, but its assembled by mopar. They suck. Powerstroke from ford, been hearing they been having some issues
Bro- i’ve owned a few of both. DM was straight garbage compared to the Cummins. Even the PS was better and that is saying a lot.
Only Ram issue was with the CP4 HPFP. That was the fault of Bosch and applied across several manufacturers.
Duramax almost 130k 5 yrs old, never failed on us. My boss prowerstroke, every once a while hes gets check engine lights.
I HATE MOPAR!
They can all be decent if they’re deleted. But at the end of the day…the straight 6 wins
A delete in CA for a diesel is now virtually impossible. As of 2023-2024 it has to be smogged every two years no matter what.
Ridiculous.
Brutal. Cali being Cali
My guy, it’s actually getting worse than what you said in 2025 for heavy duty applications. Check out Phase 3 requirements:
CARB Clean Truck Check Compliance Begins January 1, 2024 – CTTA.
Nearly all diesel and alternative fuel vehicles over 14,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating that operate in California, including personal vehicles, will be required to comply.
…
Phase 1, which started January 1, 2023, began with the deployment of Remote Emissions Monitoring Devices (REMD) to monitor the exhaust emissions of passing heavy-duty vehicles and flag potential high emitters that may receive a Notice to Submit to Testing (NST). NST’s require vehicle owners to submit a passing compliance test to CARB after any necessary emissions-related repairs are made within 30 days of receipt of the notice.
Phase 2, which started October 1st, 2023, requires vehicle owners who are subject to the program to enter their vehicles in CARB’s Clean Truck Check database and pay an initial annual compliance fee of $30 per vehicle by December 31st, 2023. Starting January 1, 2024, all trucks driving in California will need proof of compliance with these requirements to continue operating in the state. Operating in California without registration in the compliance database could result in violations from CARB and/or the CHP.
Phase 3, which starts January 1, 2024, and applies to all compliance deadlines after July 1, 2024, requires heavy-duty vehicle owners to conduct periodic emissions testing on their vehicles, similar to California’s Smog Check program for cars. Per CARB, for 2024 only, all vehicles subject to semiannual compliance testing will be required to test and submit results to CARB one time. Starting in 2025, these vehicles will have semiannual compliance deadlines (two each year, one every six months). In three years, this testing requirement will jump to four times a year.
Yep, was aware of this but really no “off the lot” one ton will hit 14k GVWR.
If you trick one of those out to be modified with all kinds of other stuff, it might have a aftermarket steel stamp that shows 14k or more but as far as even a dually pulling the biggest fifth wheel off a lot it would be hard to hit 14k for the truck on a GVWR if not impossible.
My gripe specifically is with any diesel truck that is used in a non-commercial way whether 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton having to be smogged every two years vs. six.
My buddy is the same way, has bought nothing but duramax. He is looking for a new company truck and I advised to at least look into RAM again. There has to be some reason that you see them frequently used as haulers.
How about the coil over vs the leaf spring? Unless it has changed for the 2500’s, that used to be one of the major differences. I’ve heard good/bad things about the RAM air suspension as well. But how much of any of that is actually true, vs people letting the emblem get in the way.
