Lets talk about age ☕

To me I have become a little more frugal, but I still love a nice car. Love the X5 or X7 for my family but I can’t justify the lease price over an IX. I also pay off any car loans as fast as possible. If I make a purchase, I need to pay it off in 30 to 36 months. If I can’t afford to do that, I won’t buy it.

Even though I am older, I love the tech and I like most of the new features of newer cars, hence I continue to lease. I have a feeling that will pass in the near future too. We will see.

I like the new tech on ev, for ice car - 2002+ car is good for me tech wise. I don’t need fancy tech, give me a mirror, good handling & acceleration, preferably easy to maintain. I’m good. The thing I miss is the comfort feature such as 2nd row heated seats, heated steering wheel. I don’t need the lane assist, adaptive cruise control etc. I’m still ambivalent whether to replace my 02 e46 with 06+ SC430 or get a Mini SE in 2-3 years, I may end up getting both :stuck_out_tongue:

Isn’t an SC430 a boat compared to an E46?

I had an 03 m3 in leguna seca blue. To this day I miss that car more than the sonic Blue 03 Cobra and 08 Gt500.

Keep the e46

I know, that’s what age will do to you. LOL. I prefer comfort now and SC430 is good for grand tourer in a highway. Reliability is not an issue as well.

I like that era of Lexus, but I’d rather drive grandpa’s LS430 rather than grandma’s SC. LS400 1990-2000 and ES300 through 2001 are nice too.

My son is driving it now. The e46 is the cheapest car we have right now. He still doesn’t know how good he has it and keeps comparing it to his friend new civic. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
I told him that he’s driving that car until he can afford to buy a car on his own or my daughter starts driving.

Terminator > e46

And sonic blue :face_exhaling:

I like the 02-06 ES300-ES330. My wife had the camry version which she had since college before we got her the EQB. That car is bulletproof but drive like a boat. I would have kept it if she had the lexus version just because I like its exterior, especially the headlight.

LS is too big for me. I like SC430 hard top. Toyota V8 reliability is top notch as well.

Terminator that I couldn’t drive to save my life

Had a KB 2.8L LC super charger made 708 rwhp and still was in the high 11’s with a 2.2 60ft.

Gave the keys to the tuner and his first pass was 10.8 with a 1.7 60ft

Once I got my license I was used to driving suv since my parents owned the Armada and Sequoia so I’ll stick to suv I like sitting higher up compare to sedans. I never cared about speed, engine or exhaust sound like the others kids.

Currently 30, approaching 31. The desire for a truck hit me like a brick last year. I accidently got a Ram 1500 for a rental car and I loved every second of driving it around Seattle. I see why many people drive these, despite never really towing or hauling. Big perk for me is leg room and support, while still having ample space for someone to sit behind me.

My ideal car happiness is a sportier weekend car and the truck. Whatever current FOTM truck is leasing well, I’ll go for. But for sports cars, 2012 - 2020 is ideal for me.

  • Older than 2012 and especially 2008, feels ancient to me for cars.
  • Newer than 2020 feels like there’s too much emphasis on technology and not enough on overall quality.

My appetite for fast cars has only increased as I aged (30 now). If I had a few more zeroes at the end of my bank account, I would be tracking a GT3 Cup Car. However, with the GT4, I don’t need a faster road car and I don’t know what could be next. A 992 GT3 is cool but not worth double IMO and a 992 GT3RS is way out of my budget. I have toyed with the idea of the Ferrari 458 since they are hovering around $175k-$200k as a next move because of how insane they sound with an aftermarket exhaust, but I would put too many miles on it for a Ferrari. I did 7k miles last year in the GT4 and that was without the 2.5k mile trip that I normally take.

One thing though that I have come to appreciate is my time which is why I have been considering an EV/PHEV. I hate wasting my time on errands and stopping for gas is an easy solution when I can charge at work. Maybe the Macan EV will have an insane employee deal and I can get one for relatively cheap.

In my teenage, I love the Ford Mustangs and I still love them.

That 458 is my DREAM car. Annoyingly now that I can afford one I keep buying houses lol

I went from Coupes, in my 20s to Sport Sedans in my 30s to Confused in my 40s right now to what should be the next move. Used to be speed hungry and looking for that quick 3 second or under car but I guess with growing age, that wow factor dies off. Currently settled in my '22 M550 and I think I have found the perfectly balanced vehicle for a long time as its a keeper. But for any newer vehicles to add to my life, I would definitely incline more towards higher sitting SUVs.
