Leasing help for 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander XLE

,

I’m looking to lease a 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander XLE and received the following offer from a dealer in Texas.

This is my first time leasing, so I’m looking for guidance. I have a feeling this might not be a great deal, and I’d appreciate any insight into what would make it a good lease offer. My main goal is to secure the lowest possible monthly payment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Get in touch with @Jrouleau426 if he’s back from vacationing :joy: this offer you got is too high and not good :-1: are you set on an XLE, or does an LE trim work… will be cheaper, maybe around $6xx-$7XX /mo

@BYGFEET thanks for the quick reply!

The wife has her heart set on the Grand Highlander XLE with captain’s chairs—because obviously, royalty doesn’t sit on benches. And you know what they say: happy wife, happy life… which makes me the unpaid, overworked car broker in this marriage. Just trying to land the best lease deal so I can keep both the queen and the kingdom running smoothly. Any wisdom is welcome!

Using the $3154 & $928 36 months, you will be paying $36.5k or 70% of the retail price for a car you only drive for 3 years and you still have to pay another $33.5k if you choose to buy it.

This is a car you buy, not lease.

What kind of lease numbers should I be aiming for? This car will be hardly driven, I’ll be lucky to put 5,000 miles a year on it, if that.

Leasing in Texas is not ideal, since sales tax is based on the full sale price of the car.

Have you looked at broker deals in the Marketplace to get an idea of what numbers would look like?

For starters, the dealer is selling you the car at MSRP. You are also been charged $2k in BS add-ons. Have you shopped other dealers?

:backhand_index_pointing_up::backhand_index_pointing_up: @Ryoung, are you opposed to a purchase instead of a lease?

Even more reason to buy it.

If buying ends up being a better deal than leasing, I’m totally open to that. We’ve got a newborn on the way plus have 3 kids, so upgrading to a larger vehicle became a must. We landed on an SUV, and Toyota’s reputation for reliability made it an easy choice. The dealer sent me this for the Platinum trim. Thoughts? Anything to watch out for when purchasing the vehicle?

Get more quotes. You are paying $2k+ over MSRP.

I have not look at the MarkerPlace but I will now. Thanks @Bluemkn57cars.

Will do. I’ve already reached out to a few other dealers and am still waiting to hear back. Just curious—do you think there’s still room to negotiate, or is that pretty much off the table with inventory being tight and everyone rushing to buy before the tariffs hit?

You have a new born + 3 kids. Skip the grand highlander, just buy a sienna & keep it until the newborn go out. You will need Sienna interior space sooner or later.

I wouldn’t mind going the minivan route, but unfortunately, the wife has her sights firmly set on an SUV. So here we are!

You’ve landed on one of the most demanded models in today’s market. You might need to spread your search, if you strike out in your immediate area with pricing. Also depends how much you care about the cost and saving money.

Head to the Toyota Facebook Group. Can someone post the link?

STOP reaching out to dealers.

That’s the first step of leasing, in your case.

What’s is your monthly budget on a lease?

In that case, buy the grand highlander, it doesn’t make sense to lease one when your 3 year lease is 70% of the retail price and you will still need another suv after that.

FYI you can also get 10% off a Honda Pilot which is almost as spacious inside.

Buy from Jim and please test drive a Sienna! They’re not a cool mom car anymore but they’re fantastic. If you really drive so little it will last through college move ins. Ours has 225k miles and just one more college move out left.
