Lease vs Buy Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Havent bought a car in many years and seeking advice on current buy (finance) or lease on Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (5 passenger). Seems like a number of advertised discounts but what should I be paying and am I better served buying or leasing - low mileage driver (<7500 miles/year). Based in Northeast, CT specifically. Thanks in advance for your input.

4Xe Overlands have slightly better programs this month.

If you can find a 24 retired loaner you can get it sub 300 paired with a 20% off MSRP pre-rebates.

I’m trying to get one of these for a friend.

Due to reported issues, they don’t seem to be cars to own, but to lease.

I wouldn’t buy a brand new one in a million years, the depreciation on these is and always has been brutal.

There’s only been one good lease signed on these in years IIRC so you have your work cut out for you to replicate that. Click on Signed Deals & Tips and search.

There’s also some balloon loans with walk-away options where the RV is high enough (relative to a good deal on a used car purchase) that the effective payment can be attractive. Again there’s a lot of work involved.

If this kind of problem-solving excites you and you can’t wait to crack another one, definitely go for it. If not, a low mileage driver is best served by buying a Toyota, Lexus, Honda or Hyundai/Kia, extending the OEM warranty as long as they allow and not worrying about the car-buying process for that entire duration.

Came here to say these exact words

Thank you for the responses. Seems like I should go back to drawing board on car.

Thanks for coming here first, before jumping on something ha. Generally speaking I would buy Toyota and I would lease most Jeeps. For your GC here, it would definitely a lease for me. There are always exceptions to the rule.. so you really have to base your decision off of the exact vehicle and not necessarily the brand. For example with the Jeep brand, the (Wrangler) Rubicon 392 is a finance/cash purchase all day vs lease.

Check the deal I worked on yesterday on a loaner 24 Overland.

Bear in mind that this is for 15k miles/year so for 7.5-10k you should be fairly lower.

Lease, don’t buy. I bought a '23 GC Summit (L) on a black friday deal and dumped it for a '21 X7 w/25k miles after there were a multitude of problems (electrical and mechanical). Fortunately I bought it well and I got far too much on my trade so I didn’t get killed. Run away from Stellantis is my recommendation.
