I’ve seen a bunch of posts on other forums about the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for covid. The latest suggestion from the self-proclaimed medical experts that never got past the 10th grade crowd is to start drinking gin and tonics to help prevent covid as chloroquine is just a synthetic quinine compound. For shits and giggles, I ran the actual math on how much one would have to drink for that to work out.
A liter of tonic water has a maximum allowable 80 mg of quinine in it. The proper dosage for Covid isn’t known, but if we go off of the common dosage for Malaria, 500 mg is taken 3 times a day, for 1500 mg. That means you’d need to consume about 19 liters of tonic water per day to get a clinical dose.
A typical gin and tonic contains 4 ounces of tonic water. You’d need to drink 160 gin and tonics a day to get a clinical dose of quinine.
Now, the more important question is if you drink 160 gin and tonics to try to get a clinical dose of quinine to avoid covid and die of alcohol poisoning, does your death get added to the tally of covid related deaths?
While there’s no arguing with your good hard science, I can’t believe you obviously overlooked that when people think gin, they think Tanqueray.
Tanqueray is from London. So deaths from consuming 160 gin and tonics is added directly to UK stats. Jesus, I can’t believe I have to spell this out for you!
Some people are still not taking it serious. Saw six people were walking their dogs together, right under the big sign “social distance” our town put there.
Since it seems it will be coming our way quickly and for those interested in a pre-made full face mask, these are some of the cheapest I found. Please share if you find others.
On eBay you can still find a dozen std bandana (22x22) for about a buck ea, but many color choices are sold out.
I was talking with my neighbor next door this afternoon across the fence a good 10 foot apart so we were safe and he mentioned to me that he has two pharmacist in his extended family and this was occurring. I couldn’t believe it but here’s an article on the topic of doctors hoarding the hydroxychloriquine for themselves and their families. Explains partially why there was/is still a shortage, especially for people needing it to fight COVID or their lupus & Rheumatoid arthritis.
Very sad and disturbing, but another example of privilege.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying that all/most, but definitely a lot. It’s interesting to see that in some reports, the number of deaths due to covid seem to track right in line with the reduction in number of deaths due to pneumonia
