Don’t know how in the world you came to that conclusion. Any 3-row SUV competes. Durango, Traverse, QX60, Pilot, and MDX all lease better right now, just to name a few.
But none of those are on par with Palisade/Telluride or XC90. MDX and QX 60 both have ancient tech (I lease an MDX currently). Durango and Traverse can’t compete on interior quality, and the Pilot has has somewhat outdated tech and is in between near luxury brands and mass market brands in quality.
None of them are competitive vehicles. You pay less because you get less. The xc90 is the only thing that gets you the same quality/tech/etc in a 3 row for under $600 /mo.
For me it was a better value of cost vs features vs what I liked. The Palaside was right in that sweet spot for me.
I’m sure Kia-yundai would love to know you think they are a luxo brand. Don’t know why they bother with genesis. Must be a Rolls Royce competitor.

Genesis can have the combined volume of Acura and Infiniti if they play their cards right
And not today’s volume… the high water mark for each brand
