I’m casting a wide net, ideally for this car. Also getting quotes for RWD and SE trim. Have these numbers and one from another dealer. I know there’s some missing info that would shed light on whether the deal is a good one, and am preparing to ask more questions:
MSRP $51,330
discount $3000 (so 5.8% off MSRP)
rebate $15,500
adjusted price $32,830
doc fee $595
tax $2,057
DMV fee $1,345
balance $36,827
$490/month
The manager walked down the bottom line twice, settling on $490/month for 24 months, or $11,976. Seems a bit high. Said money factor is “set” by Hyundai Motor Finance. They did not write it down, so I’m going to ask for it and confirm that it’s appropriate for my tier 1 credit. I have 5 weeks left on existing lease, but the loss of federal tax credit (to dealers) suggests to me that eligible EVs are moving fast now. I like the car, but don’t want to get hosed.
As always, the place to start is by putting together a well-researched target deal and then make offers accordingly. If you’re in a situation where you’re looking at dealer numbers and don’t know what they should be already, you have gotten way ahead of yourself.
There’s nothing to ask the dealer. If you work out a target deal, you will have all the answers you need.
My target is my existing lease (2023 same trim), which I’ve been told was a very good deal, while acknowledging that MF is a bit higher now. I’m targeting 7-8% discount off MSRP. These cars are moving well right now, and with about 4 weeks to go, I want to get some feedback. Thanks.
That isn’t a well-researched target deal based on the current market for an aggressive deal with the current lease programs as they apply to your personal situation.
That is an arbitrary and irrelevant shot in the dark. Your lease on a 23 has absolutely no bearing on what you should be targeting on this car now.
I totally get that from a budgetary stand point, you may not want to change costs, but the reason for putting together a well-researched target deal is to enable you to control the negotiations from a knowledgeable position and not fall victim to a disparity of information, which is what typically happens in a vehicle purchase.
The market has changed significantly since 2023, so past lease deals may not reflect current reality. The best approach is to research the Marketplace and Signed Deal sections on this site to see what deals people are actually securing in your geographic area.
Use that information to build a realistic proposal within your budget, then reach out to multiple dealers. You only need one dealer to accept your terms to get the deal done.
Yes, I acknowledge that the market has changed. Will check out Marketplace and Signed Deal sections. I’m in the process of confirming, through an independent party, the appropriate MF and RV for AWD SEL in my area, so that I can build a realistic proposal. I saw a post on here where someone made one with exacting detail. I need to revisit each calculation in the process, like rent charge and monthly depreciation. I’ve got an estimate in the calculator that I’ll fine tune in coming days. Right now it’s at a total cost $10,979, which sounds reasonable, but certainly worth getting lower through a realistic proposal.
Yes it’s under the cap. But DE guidelines state that the incentive is only for 36 or 48 month leases. I’ll apply regardless, as I’ve been told that the state would prefer to give a rebate to its residents rather than return funds to the federal government.
closed-end lease for a 2025 Ioniq 6 SEL RWD(A0442REZ) is $209 per month for 24 months with $3,999 due at lease signing (excludes registration, tax, title, license, processing or documentation fees, insurance and any emission charge).
sounds about right. I did have one local dealer advise that they could match that offer as long as I paid DAS + tax/tag/reg and for NC, that was really good considering everything here is inflated. There is still hope but I feel 490/mo seems excessive for an ioniq 6.
It may be. Time will tell. I’m not sure if it’s apparent, but there aren’t a lot of these cars around, and in 5 weeks the $7500 rebate will vanish. So I’ll put together a realistic proposal, and see where it goes.
Good luck. If you’re okay with OOS dealers, I would encourage you to reach out to Southern States Hyundai here in Raleigh - they were the ones who suggested they could match that deal.
Thanks for the heads up. Using Firefox on linux Ubuntu. I’ll try Chrome. I posted a query on Edmunds earlier today. Good to have confirmation from two sources.
