How to negotiate with Cadillac dealers

This is from someone discussing Escalade EV

I’m in the Houston area. Use the lease hackr calculator to know if you are getting a good deal. When I leased my hummer i tried 4 houston dealers and none would give me the GM money factor, so I got mine in san antonio. Be willing to travel. I called dealers across texas and asked to speak to finance, told them what i knew and asked if they would offer it. They said no I hung up and called the next one. Most dealers will advertise good sale prices with money off msrp but then jack you on finance with a high money factor, so you need to shop that. Every dealer in Houston had 12-20k off Hummers but none had good money factor. (20k off was only on omegas which stickered for 140k) I got 16k off my 120k msrp and the gm money factor and no addons or bs. Did the deal over the phone then rented a car and drove to san antonio to pick it up.

we plan to get a an escalade iq when they have similar lease deals. We currently have cadillac ct6 platinums.

Don’t bother with Covert…tried multiple times. My best deals / luck have been with Houston and Dallas stores. DM me

What is a good money factor?
This is the deal I got on my XT6 demo Prem Lux with Tech. Advertised deal

MSRP: $62,895
Purchase Price: $57,926 (8% off MSRP)
Residual Value: $41,510 (66%)
Money Factor: 0.00259 (6.22% APR)
Rebates: $7,000 - Costco Limited time, Lease Conquest, GM Supplier, GM Card Signup, Loaner Car Incentive
Monthly: $499 payment - 2nd month payment completely covered by bonus points earned on new GM Card
Due At Signing : $5,650 (includes $2,999 down payment, first month payment, Sales Tax, Registration, doc fee)
Zero dollar origination, bank and return fees
Term: 24 months
Mileage: 8,231 miles / year
Comments: demo car with 3500 miles

Over the last few weeks, there have been many instances where sales person were blatantly wrong about rebates, sales tax credits, lease structures and so on and refuse to check with their manager. In such cases do i just call and try to speak to their finance manager directly?

Example (Blazer EV)

  • Courtesy transportation unit does not mean its a loaner
  • There is no $3000 CCR rebate for a loaner car.
  • In TX, there are no sales tax credits
  • There is no EV supplier Allowance rebate
  • Lease numbers being twice or thrice compared to what i see in the calculator here (After verifying exact MF, MSRP, Sell Price, TTL, Fees, Incentives :man_facepalming:)

I’d venture on a dealer website click About Us/meet the staff and see if direct emails are provided to folks above the floor team.

Or hire a broker that deals in your state.

Do what @djrabbi does where you get hyper aggressive trying to put a crazy deal together.

The F&I guy will magically get involved when you agree to sign a $39 monthly $0 DAS deal since the sales guy accidentally triple-counted the rebates.

I always call the SM first and tell them I’d like to email them a one-page lease proposal as I want to get a deal done ASAP. Here’s a sample proposal…

Unless they’re really stupid, they’ll immediately know that it’s time to put their gameboards, toys, and Crayolas away. They know they can’t bullshit me and so, it’s time to get down to business and close the deal. The best part is that it almost always works! The proposal is dated Dec 26, and it was closed on Dec. 28. All negotiating was done via phone. Once an agreement is reached, I asked the SM for a review copy of the lease agreement and all contract addenda BEFORE I went to the dealer to sign. I didn’t want any dealer excuses or surprises like we made a mistake.

Two things here:

We highly recommend in here putting an offer together with all the details you mentioned instead of “asking for a quote”. The offer should make its way to the SM who will know what stacks and is available and very quickly if they’ll entertain your offer.

Second thing: Your in TX, why not go straight to someone on LH that knows the game? Paging @ChevyCoach In the mean time check out his thread.

Unless you know what your target is and make offers, this change of approach is unlikely to change your outcome.

As someone that has worked at a dealership briefly you’re going to want to talk to a Sales Manager/General Sales Manager instead of the Finance Manager. The sales advisors talk to Sales Manager for pricing.

Finance Managers are in charge of things on the back end, like service packages and paperwork. They generally do not have the authority to change the sales price and have to check with the Sales Manager.

I agree with you in general, but @ZeR0c00L is having a specific problem with the application of rebates, sales tax offsets/credits, how sales tax is applied to rebates. I think he’s hoping the F&I can chime in to set things right.

But as you said, the problem is dealerships typically work with fairly rigid walls separating the different functions. F&I don’t want to get involved until later in the sales process, and the Sales team is supposed to have whatever information it takes to get a customer to sign.

Fighting through dealer politics and trying to find various pockets of info/skill at the showroom seems like a lost cause here. Probably time to move on to a different car/showroom.

Yes, i know the exact numbers using the calculator, 99% of time, zero ask of lowering price, its just using what’s listed on their website. The problem is lack of knowledge on sales advisor side and a bit arrogance they are 100% correct.

I am going try @delta737h’s way emailing the sales manager directly.

AWESOME! Just be very confident and business-like as though you’ve done this a thousand times and be sure to always control the deal. That can only be achieved with education which breeds confidence and increases the likelihood of success. GOOD LUCK!

Sorry to bring this thread back, but was wondering if anyone had any luck with dealers recently. I currently qualify for conquest, GM Employee, Loaner car (for few im looking at), etc. So far most dealers dont really want to move off of what’s listed online. Im in the DFW area.

99% of the time that price includes rebates that don’t apply to leases because they’re retail rebates or don’t apply to 99% of the population.

*Must be recent college grad with veteran status and current educator/firefighter employment with RR or Bentley in household

Nice, GM employee makes it a pretty awesome deal, try Sewell, they are nicest of the bunch. What you are looking for?

True, that’s always my first question, does the dealer discount include any incentives or rebates…default response is yes and then they check and confirm its pure MSRP discount at-least for Blazer

Thanks I will check them out. I work right next to Frank Kent in Arlington so I tried there first, then went to a few others, and they reached out again but still higher than I am seeing with others.

Mainly looking for a Sport 2 if possible as my wife really wants the ventilated seats. Outside of that not much, doesn’t need super cruise or any of that

According to rate finder, best combo seems to be GM Conquest offer (if you own 2011 or newer non-GM vehicle: $3000) and GM EV executive referral ($2500). says conquest and Employee EV allowance does not stack, you will have to check.

Aim for 2024 loaner
Cadillac Incremental CCR Program for Retired CTA Vehicles : $2500
Dealer incentive: Cadillac Courtesy Transportation Alternative (CTA) Short Term In Service Program : $1000

Take the super supporter membership to see the different RV , incentives etc. Totally worth it till you signup for lease
