I also am interested in grabbing a Lyriq at that price waiting for someone to respond to this thread!
Here is my flow so far:
- Use Caredge to find all Lux 2 Lyriqs within set range (200miles)
- Sort those by “day in the market.”* (Lots in Florida over 200 days)
- Make a spreadsheet of all vehicles of interest to keep it organized
–This includes the dealer’s link to the vehicle and the name of the person I’ve contacted. - I created an editable template email to send my offers. I always run the numbers through the LH calculator first. Send it to any salesperson on their contact page and CC the Sales Manager.
The response rate is high, but the issue is that many of these dealers think their Lyriqs are worth the same as a Porsche Taycan.
I’m not sure if these dealers are really willing to talk even with their vehicles already being aged or if Caredge isn’t posting accurate numbers. It’s been an interesting few days since starting this method.
What % off MSRP are you working towards?
10% is ideal, I’ll even settle for 8%. However, I lowball them with 13% on loaners with over 2000 miles. Florida is honestly hard to find a deal. The shops don’t want to budge more than $2,000 off and often tell me, “Money Factor doesn’t matter.”
I’m in no rush to sign anything. Once I exhaust all the dealers I can find, I’ll move my range further out.
If I can’t find a Lyriq for the price I want, I’ll look for a Blazer EV and then an Equinox EV. I qualify for the most rebates with GM so staying with those Makes.
Update. Had a dealer tell me “I need to come back to reality.” After providing an offer for 10% off msrp with effective payment at $450/m $1000 DAS. After rebates.
His first offer was $1100/m for a loaner lux 2. I’m confused who needs to come back to reality.
It’s rough out there.
A lot of people are of the mindset that if they want to hit a really aggressive number, they should way overshoot so they can move a lot and end where they want to be.
In reality, theres a line that once you push past, your offer goes straight into the trash. You come off as not serious or informed and just a waste of time.
Don’t beat around the bush and make the offer you want to end at. When youre being aggressive, your only value is being the quicket, easiest sale possible. Planning on a lot of back and forth is counterproductive to that.
Most dealers will still say no, which is fine, but you’ll have a much easier time getting to where you want.
Oh don’t get me wrong. 13% is still a realistic attempt on a select amount units in my opinion based off some signed deals here. Just searching for the diamond in the rough.
Can you share what was the final offer that you closed / going to close ?
I have to say 10% off msrp match up my experience. Dealers won’t budge once it’s over that 10% line. This is true for both loaners or new.
It makes me wondering what could happen on 11/30 or 12/31. Maybe there’s a bigger but hidden incentive that awards dealer if they sell these 24’ Lyriq over 10% off MSRP that sit on the lot for the whole 2024?
Nothing signed yet on the Cadillac end, but I did close a lease for my father on a 2LT Equinox EV for 11% off msrp in Wisconsin.
It was shockly easy to find that one. I may need to give my Lyriq search a try up there.
I’d rather pay the different in dealer fees as miles overage and road trip that baby back to Florida.
Here is my parents deal, roughly
I feel the same! I feel 10% is not an unrealistic offer. The Cadillac dealer here keeps inventory in a fenced off area under an overpass, and I see the same few lyrics there for months covered in dust with all the stickers on them.
Have you tried working with a broker?
Pedro was Autopia is great.
Can you share the template you’re using?
Just FYI - you are in ballpark. I got my lyriq for 12% off before rebates in June. I was also offered an equinox ev at 13% off before rebates in Sept but didn’t take it due to apple car play. I am in WI and both deals out of state.
Sure, here it is:
Subject: Lease Offer Inquiry: 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 2 (Stock # [Insert Stock Number])
Dear [Dealer Name or “Cadillac Sales Team”],
I am located in [City, State] (zip code [xxxxx] ), and I am reaching out regarding the [Make, Model, Trim] listed under stock number [Insert Stock Number]. I am interested in leasing this vehicle and wanted to present an offer for your consideration.
Based on my research, I would like to propose a lease offer reflecting a [Insert %] discount off MSRP. I believe this adjustment is reasonable, considering the following factors:
- The vehicle has been on the market for [Insert Number of Days].
- [If applicable: This vehicle has been retired from the loaner fleet and currently has [Insert Number of Loaner Miles] miles.]
If this pricing works for your dealership, I am prepared to come in and finalize the lease paperwork either today [or within the week if the dealer is out-of-town], depending on your availability.
Please let me know if my offer aligns with your pricing or if there are additional details and negotiations you’d like to discuss. I look forward to your response and hope to drive off in the Lyriq soon!
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
[name]
I’ve seen his deals and, honestly, will probably reach out if I can’t find anything on my own. I’ve found some enjoyment in this search.
Thank you for the template; it was very helpful!
This is the first time I am trying to lease instead of buy. Got confused with what dealers sent me, especially what is related to 7,5k EV Credit. Dealers say they factor 7.5k in the RV.
In your template, your key value is MSRP and discount off. Is it RV that dealers can play with as well?
May I ask for advice from the team here (if it is not appropriate for this thread - please let me know) - here are 2 offers I got for Lux 2 yesterday (TX):
Both of them are not good IMHO. As for the second one, should I expect to see additional rebates (Costco, conquest, etc.)?
Thank you
I am not an expert. These questions might be better suited for their own thread in the Ask a Hacker Section.
I understand that the first step is to negotiate a dealer discount off MSRP before discussing rebates or monthly payments. Also, ensure you know what discounts they are offering immediately, as you might not qualify for them.
Remember, they hate working with customers by e-mail and are fishing for you to come into the dealership.
Many will refuse to deal with you unless you come in. Skip those.
You can not change the residual value—the manufacturer sets it—but you can try to bring the final cost as close to the RV as possible by getting them to agree to discounts off MSRP and adding rebates.
No.
This is an ambiguous offer.
You need to either spell out all the numbers in detail or give only monthly/due at signing.
Any offer like this where you’re only focusing on one piece of the puzzle is a waste of time and sets you up to be negotiating a different deal than what the dealer is negotiating.
The whole concept of trying to negotiate things in a piece part manner is simply wasting everyone’s time and removing your value as a quick, easy deal.
Got it. Thanks for the information. As I said, I’m not an expert. I’ll definitely use this to change my offers.
