already ordered from a dealer in Northern California and on the lot. Unfortunately, no sold order protection so I’ll be negotiating with them on the final terms.
that’s crazy that you hadn’t agreed on a selling price before order, afaik all dealers could use the msrp from date that was ordered as the hike only affects orders placed after
ah ok, that makes sense. I thought they could use the latest MSRP.
to be fully knowledgeable going in, I’m still trying to figure out the invoice on the base MSRP from the 2nd price hike.
Did they send you a POC when you ordered?
Also, what exactly did you agree to deal wise when placing order? For example…x% off of invoice.
Number on write of POC is invoice
I got something similar but no FWP column:
I suppose the invoice is about $2k - $2.5k under MSRP at my price point.
What date did you order/was that initially generated?
And what did you negotiate w the dealer for terms?
Also great build
Edit— this is just an estimate. I assume invoice is $56250-56450
Order was generated 6/5.
They agreed to 1% below invoice but could not guarantee base MF. So I reached out to another local dealer that guaranteed base MF and 1% below invoice. I let the first dealer know and they told me “don’t worry, we’ll take care of you.”
That proved naive as the dealer is marking up their MF. I should’ve placed an order with the second dealer.
why didnt you order from gupton? 6% under invoice and base mf, not far at all from NC
He’s in California
Some people can’t be helped
Clutch???
Love clutch!
I can’t recall if they were doing CA deals back in early June
I considered it. A few reasons:
- Gupton required a non-refundable down payment
- Didn’t want to deal with shipping
- No $1,500 California tax credit
- Thought I’d spend a tad more for an exit option and less headache (or so I thought)
Had I known about the sold order confirm at the time I placed my order, I probably would’ve gone with Gupton.
oh shit my bad LOL
Hahaha
Sorry that was funny
how rude =) but in hindsight, Clutch or Gupton all the way.
the showstopper for me was the non-refundable deposit. I didn’t think I had to have this car if the deal went bad but now that it’s here and with all the pictures of people’s kids in their Jeep, I WANT ONE TOO. first world problems.
I guess if you didn’t do a deposit and the deal is horrible you could always walk. Work out the difference between what your dealer ends up doing and what a current Clutch/Gupton deal looks like. Then decide if the delta is worth waiting 8-10 weeks for it and possible future delta.
Anyone care to guess where the used car market is going? I thought for the last few weeks the market would correct a bit but now i saw toyota announced 40 percent cutbacks on new builds.
Any projection is all speculation. So if you plan to sell a vehicle better sell it sooner rather then later.
