How much do the car salesmen make on each deal?

You’re really close lol. Indian guy came in and started with “I want a Prius and I want to pay less than my friend.” Ok, well what did your friend pay? “37,500”. Ok, what trim level and options does it have? “Navigation. It has navigation my friend!” Well, he got a Prius with navigation and tss-p. But it had a sticker of 32 or 33k and he only wanted to pay slightly less than his friend. Like, the guy was rude and stubborn and wouldn’t listen when I tried to save him and get him a better deal.

He said something along the lines of “No no no my friend. Are you dumb? I told you I want that car that you showed me with the navigation and I will only pay 37k cash and not a penny more”. At one point and that’s when I gave up and just sold him the car.

You don’t, most have roommates. Average 2 bedroom apartment here is $2300 a month in an older place. You need to either have roommates, girlfriend or parents that can help you.

Local burger joint starts at $16 an hour

It’s funny I have 2 friends who are in car sales. One is with Ferrari and the other with Honda. My Honda friend runs laps in sales around my buddy who does Ferrari. I told him he should move to Lexus, Toyota, etc

Usually my biggest profits were on used cars and it wasn’t always the buyer over paying , sometimes we stole the trade from the original owner so we had tons of room even if the new buyer got a fair market price. But there were certainly times I’d have a lease customer pay msrp or sometimes more. The business certainly wasn’t for me , I’m glad I got out

It wasn’t for me, I was 22-25 at the time so 90k seemed great, but working open to close 6 days a week , every weekend, every holiday etc really wasn’t for me, I used to look at the sales mangers making 120-150 and the gm making 250-300 and be excited to make a career there but those guys also all had families who hated them and no life , it’s a big trade off … I’m glad I left

My father (and grandfather before him) owned a new car dealership, and the people who took these jobs often didn’t like their families either.

Not every spouse is a doting soulmate, and not every kid is a cherubic honor student.

Fair enough, simply stating that at 25 the future I saw staying in the car sales business at a dealership didn’t look like something I wanted for myself. I do miss the car business itself though, just sales side def wasn’t for me

Completely understand, that’s also why I am referring to the family business in the past tense.

You sure about your math there dude? You need to re-do it.

I remember walking into a BMW dealership and looking at the cars and there were 4 salesmen that never approached me but were having so much fun throwing a tennis ball at each other… Major turn-off and unprofessional.

There is a saying that if you want to drive a Ferrari, sell Honda and if you want to drive a Honda, sell Ferrari.

He confessed that he done messed up. Lol just calculation error

It’s not enough…i feel like i should be banned for a month or something…lol.
I noticed the error fast too but the bat replied so fast…i thought it would be weird to remove the post since he quoted me in his.
Oh…and i do want to apologize to my 2nd grade math teacher…i let her down :confounded:

Hahah

Don’t use this punishment as a Quasi treatment for “LH addiction” :joy::joy::joy:

Suggested penance: for the next 30 days, your posts are limited to “ask the hackers”, and you can only reply to deal questions that have nothing to do with EVs.

That is one effective way to shut me up…you know too much.

I know 4 Ferrari salespeople that average 500k / year. Depends on location, volume, and payplan.

Top MB salesperson made over a mill last year, really varies from dealer to dealer

Is that someone from keyes or fletcher jones?

Probably. Gotta have the volume
