I like HUDS. The only issue I have with them is that I can barely see them with my polarized sunglasses, so they’re useless during the day. At night I do enjoy them. It is hard to get used to them though, not sure how to train yourself.
As far as who has the best one, I’ve only compared RAM and BMW and I’d say they were equal, though the BMW one might be larger.
Same. I’ve never had a desire for one. It’s just a distraction. I’m not using navigation 99% of the time, and if I need the map closer than the center display, it can be in the driver’s display anyway. I just hate how some cars package it with other things I want, such as on a 5 series. I want HK sound, but I don’t want the HUD.
I wear polarized sunglasses because its sunny, which means I have to drive with my neck turned sideways in order to see it in my 5 series during the day. That makes my neck hurt.
nice in rental cars, I wouldn’t pay extra for it with current functionality.
If they could show something like apple carplay maps on there I would appreciate it (waze or something similar)… most cars that I’ve been in that have it only show basic car nav on there, speed, radio/media, street signs, etc.
Sounds like it’s set too low for you. Not a must have but fun and anything that provides info and making it so you don’t have to look down is a net win
Had it on multiple cars, don’t have it now. Quite frankly don’t even miss it.
Cool feature to have but by no means a must have. Certainly would check the box if ordering and available but wouldn’t be a deal breaker if not offered.
I’d take a nicely designed cluster over HUD any day. Also if you regularly wear polarized sunglasses get used to tilting your head to see your speed.
In Arizona because I always wear sunglasses during the day it’s relatively useless. I’ve used it maybe two three times driving at night and I found it pretty cool. I was told that if you have to replace a windshield with HUD it’s super expensive. When I sold my X4 literally the only thing that the dealer cared about was the windshield. He didn’t look at the wheels, tires, brakes, scratches but he checked the windshield for cracks.
I had it on my ‘18 Honda Accord Touring and it was pretty decent - showed current speed, speed limit signs, navigation, calls and maybe even music. Where it lacked was the integration with CarPlay - nav only worked with the native navigation app.
I miss it on the Tesla and now I barely even look at the speedometer because “giant tablet in the middle”.
I think key is setting it up to where you can see it properly and if the implementation is good enough to where it adds value to your driving.
