We were already doing 6k leases all day before the debacle. Now this POS should be at $79 a month
I called the EV Concierge number to request a buyback. They took my info and called back a week later with an offer to replace or repurchase the vehicle pursuant to the Song-Beverly Act (CA lemon law), followed by an email to the same effect.
Iām going to try the repurchase route to see what thatās like. No idea if theyāll accept an MSRP swap into an LT1 with the same terms (payment and buyout), but no harm trying, right?
California customers are definitely getting preferential treatment due to the volume of these sold there as well as the state lemon laws. Apparently GM has an entire repurchase team dedicated solely to California. The rest of us wait months and never receive promised call backs from their reps.
I get that they are busy but then you shouldnāt say to me "Iām sorry I didnāt call you back like I said I would, Iām scheduling our next call right nowā and then not do it. That means you either lied about it or you got a reminder about our scheduled call and you deliberately ignored it.
Dealers are going to be REALLY happy with this recall if this bulletin is to be believed⦠$1,140 worth of warranty payments to do all this work? They are going to drag their feet like crazy, not to mention that a lot of dealers only have one EV certified tech. At my local dealer they donāt work on Saturdays either.
Not only that, Iām pretty sure dealers are going to rebel about any future EV work. And apparently the forklifts in use now are not going to be enough for the Silverado in the future, so more expenses. This is going to be a fun war of dealers vs manufacturer.
I havenāt been able to validate any good options for me as a current leaseholder - mixed stories on whether an MSRP swap is a reality, canāt find any similar priced leases, etc.
For leaseholders with really good terms: are you just riding this out and following the charging directions in the interim?
I would sell it back, but I canāt find anything similarly priced.
9/29 update - Case manager said my original purchasing dealership declined to facilitate the recall. 2 weeks still of finding a host dealership.
GM is going to have to put its foot down or this is going to become a mess & might even blow up (no pun intended) in their face if itās not handled correctly.
Stevens or Capitol? Wouldnāt surprise me if you end up in the Central Valley.
Capitol refused. I am fine doing an MSRP swap in Central Valley since my Bolt is located there anyways.
Did they refuse an in stock unit or an order? or both?
Reason is not stated, but the case manager just said they declined. Most likely, the dealership has low inventory and is not willing to give it up for a swap.
Interesting! I assume you requested a replacement, rather than a repurchase? Did GM specify what the terms of the lease would be like on the replacement vehicle?
You can replace it with any GM brand vehicle (GM, Cadillac, Buick, GMC)
They said I can replace it with a gas vehicle or the new Bolt after the recall.
So you just go through the concierge and never actually communicate with a dealership? When you say replacement do they give you the option of just ordering? Is there any reason that a dealership would reject an order?
You canāt communicate with a dealership if they are not willing to host.
Replacement = factory order or any inventory on the lot.
Sounds like this is going to be a pain / near impossible. I donāt see why any dealership would want to host thisā¦
Did they mention if lease term would stay the same if going with replacement option ?
This is part of my fearā¦I pick up my Tesla 3 tomorrow, and am stuck with my EUV for another 6 months. So far itās been over a month since I got my buyback letterā¦no contact, and when I did last week they had to start from square one!
Tesla (additional vehicle) adds $1500/year to my insuranceā¦swapping for Bolt adds $12.
Looks like Iām going to let the Tesla go for the time beingā¦also, I donāt really want have Congress pass a $12500 EV tax credit next week which I wonāt receive!
Plus, I was sitting on Sunset in the Palisades this morning at a light. I was surrounded by 5 Teslaās, with nary a Bolt to be seenā¦I really donāt like being a sheeple!
I have found a dealer near me in the DC metro area that will host my MSRP/Trade swap. Buick vice another chevy. Still trying to figure out how the terms will work.
