After happily getting a Cadillac Lyric Tech AWD for $240/mon (and 1k on GM credit card), I wasn’t really in the market for a new car. But I saw the Genesis G80 had $21.5k in rebates on a 13 month which is the last month for lease support. I put this into my excel sheet and saw that with a ~10% discount, the monthly figures could be sub $450 on a 76k MSRP car.
The problem is that I looked at the LH marketplace and the best discounts from the few Genesis brokers was at 4-6% so 10% seemed quite ambitious.
But thankfully one dealership was willing to play ball at 11.5% (I’ll save you the boring details).
The deal comes with a slight markup in the MF and a few addons; they were not willing to budge on that. One pay comes to around $3700 (saves about $600).
I’m also surprised no one else here really tried for one of these or at least mentioned it somewhere. Seemed like the ideal situation for a lease. Maybe I can have my own “hersheysweet EQS” thread
In NJ, you pay an EV registration fee of $250 each year. On a 13 mon lease, I would have had to pay for two years ($500), but the dealership made a mistake and only charged me for $250. They covered the 2nd year for me.
In order to lock the deal, I put a down payment of $330 but the contract terms turned out to be only for $304. Idk what happened, but based on my calculation, it seems that they structured the lease to be a 0 down, sign and drive and that original charge of $330 was not supposed to happen. As a result, they refunded me the “down payment” of $330. I basically only owe 12 more payments of $304 and the overall one pay is now $3400 (effectively monthly of $260 disregarding disposition).
This came with complimentary full protection (tire/wheel, windshield, dent) for 1 year.
My full thanks to @michael for the rate finder. Genesis leases are so rare that edmunds doesn’t really have that many requests for lease info. Having access to the database via super supporter was a big help. The only suggestion I would add is to have a drop down of possible lease terms. As it is right now, you have to guess and check which lease durations are supported.
I was able to secure one for $499 a month with TTL and 0 down in Southern California. I reached out to 6 different dealers and this was the only dealer with minimal haggling. It was a smooth experience. They have a few more available at the price ending tomorrow when the rebate goes away.
I would reach out to genesis dealers in your area instead of waiting for OP to reply back if you are willing to make a move. Incentives go away tomorrow.
