Funniest/most ridiculous dealer replies you've ever gotten

Fairly brilliant con. I bet you can get at least a few socials from the morons who patronize SAL.

Assume they tried to take your credit app directly?

He would get more victims with sub $300 minivan or Tahoe, even a $150 taco, just enough to be almost real but still really cheap.

He doesn’t need identities of low-to-sub-700 scores and lower incomes.

Take a look at the lives of “sub $300 minivan or Tahoe” drivers and tell me if that’s the crime spree you’d do.

Not wanting to put too much thought into this illegal activity but I wouldn’t care too much about their lifestyle. I’d care about the likelihood of getting usable info and the amount I could gain. I think there is more volume potential in the sub $300 than say a $1k GT3. Maybe I’m wrong because it’s the GT3 that is posted.

They are probably fishing for people who got rich quick and aren’t paying close attention to their finances, credit reports, etc.

I hope not. But it looks like the listings were removed today

Just had this back and forth negotiating a 2020 Bolt lease:

Cmon stop being greedy. You’re literally taking food off their kids’ plates.

Salesperson should have just said that’s my deal by the 3rd text and save you both the time.

I would have stopped after the Okay. Dude/tte from the dealer decided nope, I’m gonna have final say!

Here is how I politely say no. It is super easy and I am happy to have dealerships pay me as a consultant to teach it.

what I don’t understand is who do these tactics work on and I mean from both sides? Phrases like “that’s below my cost”, “taking food away from my kids”, “tell me where I’ll buy it from them myself cackle cackle” or from the customer’s side "I saw it somewhere else for ".

We get people that come through here all the time that say “well, the salesman said that he was doing me a gigantic favor by coming down to $500 under MSRP and any less was taking money from his daughter’s college fund, so I know this is a great deal at $550, since he’ll have to skip dinner tonight.”

It’s all an effort to personalize the interaction and make it emotional.

Maybe I should start working with crappier dealers, haven’t had the opportunity to use my ‘that sounds like a you problem, not a me problem’ line.

I just had one sales guy go off on a phone saying to me: “It’s simple math - how could the payment you want make sense when if I take depreciation, and divide it by number of months, it’s already more than what you want, without taxes and fees and rent charge?!?!”

He was substracting RV from MSRP to get his depreciation number

Did you get petty and reply “That’s why you’re not in finance?”

Yeah, didn’t really want to engage him, we were supposedly waiting on SM to pick up, and sales guy was just trying to “enlighten” me on my screwy ways… SM never came to the call, and hasn’t called back yet as sales guy said…

He isn’t going to call you :frowning:

And that is ok, part of the dance. Their loss of loser deal = their gain
