Fun Summer Car Suggestions?

Hello hackrs

I’m on the hunt for a fun summer car. Would be a short term hold and sell after summer, so I don’t want to lose my ass on whatever it ends up being (looking at you, Z4 M40). My requirements: manual and convertible, new or used, up to $85k-ish. I have a short list going but would appreciate insight:

Aston Martin Vantage
718 Boxster GTS
F83 M4 although I can’t really find any manuals
Z4 M40 looks like fun but depreciation will kill me
981 Cayman GT4 looks good and I’d stretch the budget for the right one but not a vert so its more towards the bottom of the list
TJ wrangler could be fun too

I do not want a mustang or camaro

What am I missing? I know fun is subjective, so I’m open to all perspectives. Please, no miata suggestions lol. This will be replacing my 911 for the summer

Can I interest you in an open-top pedal car?

But in all honesty, find a heavily depreciated C8 HTC from 2022-2023

You said manual… never mind

BMW M2 - not sure abt depreciation though

Oh boy do I have a car for you!

I’ve had a C8 already - nice car but wouldn’t want another. Maybe a C7 Z06?

Good point… would be right in your price range too (with a manual). Interior quality will be considerably worse than the C8

My 911 is cheaper than yours, back to the drawing board friend

Not a vert but not a terrible suggestion

Maybe, I’ll offer to give the buyer a house as incentive!

Yeah but mine is red and I have miles.

Seriously tho bro, why not just drive the 911?

I love the 911 but its a slicktop coupe and an automatic. I want something a bit more engaging for the summer

Mazda MX-5 (regardless of “no Miata”) and a Wrangler stripper as well.

Should be able to do both for under $85k.

4K miles. Just saying

Dude we’re supposed to get him into a Benz. Maybe you can help broker a deal with this one.

I had an NA Miata and while “fun” it’s just not that fun for me on the roads I primarily drive. It’s just small and slow. If I’m going small and slow, it’d be a Lotus Elise

I’m all for a clean, no rust TJ wrangler with the 5 speed though

Lotus Evora? The Toyota engine is pretty solid.

Was looking at the Evora GT. Not a vert but could maybe get past it. The local Lotus dealer is in my backyard as well
